Meta has announced new features for Communities – the ability to organise events and organised replies in the Announcements Groups for a streamlined experience. Let’s check out how these features will work.
WhatsApp Adds Organised Replies and Event Planning to Communities
WhatsApp Communities was launched in 2022 to streamline multiple groups managed by the same admins. With the new Events feature in WhatsApp Communities, group admins can now plan get-togethers directly in the app.
Anyone in a WhatsApp Community can create and set up events like dinners, birthday parties, and more. The event will then be added to the group’s information page and will be shown to all members. Group members can then RSVP to the event so that everyone will know who is attending.
The feature will also inform members when the event is getting closer so that it’s not missed. Meta has announced that the new Events feature is coming to Communities first and will be rolled out to all groups in the coming days.
WhatsApp is also improving the replies in the Announcements Groups. There will now be Organised Replies to the Announcements Group. This will group and minimise all replies to admins’ messages, similar to reply threads in Slack or Discord. Moreover, users will not be bombarded with notifications for such replies and can check replies to relevant admin messages.
Earlier, the replies were cluttered. For the uninitiated, an Announcements Group is created by default where only Admins can post. This happens when a Community is created.
WhatsApp has also announced that more features are set to roll out for Communities and groups over the next few months.
