WhatsApp is testing out a new feature, which is rolling out the beta users on iOS (version, iOS 24.3.10.70). The new Favourite Contacts feature is intended to enhance the calling experience much better and quicker.

The new feature has been spotted by the popular WhatsApp beta tracking website, WABetaInfo. It will let users set favourite contacts, which will appear on top of the calls tab. You can check this out in the screenshot below. WhatsApp users can simply tap on a favourite contact to start a video or voice call with them. This will make it faster and more convenient to make calls to family and friends.

By allowing users to set favourite contacts on top of the calls tab, WhatsApp is ensuring that important contacts are front and foremost of the calling interface. The one-tap calling ability ensures that the whole WhatsApp calling experience becomes efficient and convenient. We can safely assume that users will be able to select from voice or video calls when they tap on a favourite contact.

As of now, it’s not clear how users will be able to set a favourite contact but we can see in the background of the screenshot that it can be done from the calls tab. It would be safe to assume that users will be able to long press on a contact to set them as a favourite contact. Once a contact has been added to Favourites, it will appear on top of the calls tab. Users can simply tap on a Favourite Contact on top to start a call with them.

The feature isn’t live for all users and hence, we will have to wait for WhatsApp’s official word on this. We will keep you in the loop once this happens. Meanwhile, WhatsApp recently rolled out the Pinned Events in Communities to beta users on Android. The feature can automatically recognise the events shared in Community groups and display them on top in the WhatsApp Community for the convenience of users.
