Is the Mi A2 a Good Buy at INR 17,990?

At INR 17,990, the Mi A2 6GB RAM + 128GB storage variant certainly makes sense if you are looking for a budget Android smartphone that offers a stock Android experience and comes with a guarantee of regular software updates for a period of three years. Apart from software, the Mi A2 also impresses in the camera department with its 12MP + 20MP setup at the rear and a 20MP front-facing camera with a wide array of AI-backed features. It also happens to be among the most powerful budget Android smartphones around, running on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 AIE 14nm octa-core processor.

On the flip side, the Mi A2’s design is not the most exciting and it lacks a 3.5mm headphone jack as well. Similar to budget Redmi smartphones, the Mi A2 uses an 18:9 aspect ratio panel with a screen-to-body ratio that is significantly lower than some of the competition. The omission of a 3.5mm headphone jack is also quite disappointing. And if you are a power user, the Mi A2’s 3000mAh capacity battery will surely not impress you. Some rivals, including Xiaomi’s own Redmi Note 5 Pro (review), offer much better battery life than the Mi A2.
