The screen includes a punch-hole cutout which houses the selfie camera. The power and volume keys are located on the right side of the device. For the security purpose, the device has a an in-display fingerprint sensor and a face unlock support that works through the selfie camera.

Xiaomi is using an octa-core 6nm Dimensity 920 processor to power the Xiaomi Mi 12i. The graphical task of the device is handled by a Mali-G68 MC4 GPU.
