Qualcomm Introduces New Snapdragon Chips for PCs and Smartphones

At its annual Snapdragon Summit in Hawaii, Qualcomm unveiled two big products that will shape the future of both laptops and smartphones. The company launched the Snapdragon X2 Elite series for Windows PCs and the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for upcoming flagship phones. Both focus heavily on speed, efficiency, and smarter AI features that can work directly on the device.

Smarter PCs with Snapdragon X2 Elite

The Snapdragon X2 Elite series marks Qualcomm’s biggest step yet into the PC market. There are two versions, with the Extreme model being the more powerful option. These chips are designed to make laptops not only faster but also more efficient, meaning they can handle heavy tasks without draining the battery quickly.

According to Qualcomm, the Extreme version comes with 18 cores that can run at speeds up to 5.0GHz, making it suitable for professional work like editing large video projects, running data-heavy applications, or multitasking across several programs at once. At the same time, it promises better battery life compared to earlier Snapdragon PC chips.

Another highlight is AI performance. With support for up to 80 trillion operations per second, these processors are built to handle AI-driven tools on your laptop, whether that’s a smarter assistant helping you manage emails or advanced software that adapts to your workflow. They can also power setups with multiple high-resolution monitors, making them useful for both work and entertainment. Laptops powered by the Snapdragon X2 Elite series are expected to launch in the first half of 2026.

Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Smartphones

Qualcomm also introduced its latest mobile processor, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, which it calls the fastest smartphone chip in the world. The focus here is on combining performance with new AI experiences that feel more personal and useful.

One of the standout features is the ability to power AI assistants that learn from how you use your phone. For example, it could suggest apps based on your routine, enhance your prompts in real time, or provide context-aware recommendations without needing to send your data to the cloud. All of this happens on the device itself, keeping user privacy intact.

For creators, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 is the first mobile platform that allows video recording in Advanced Professional Video format. This means you can capture footage at a quality close to what professionals shoot on dedicated cameras, and then fine-tune it later with detailed post-production controls. Gamers also benefit from a faster graphics system, smoother visuals, and better battery efficiency during long sessions.

This chip will power upcoming flagship phones from brands like Samsung, OnePlus, Xiaomi, and iQOO. In fact, iQOO has already confirmed that its next phone, the iQOO 15, will be one of the first to launch with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 in India.

What to expect?

With these two launches, Qualcomm is making a strong statement. The Snapdragon X2 Elite series aims to deliver smarter and more capable Windows laptops, while the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 claims to raise the bar for flagship smartphones. Both platforms put AI at the center, while also promising faster performance and better battery life for everyday users. We are looking forward to testing the devices powered by these two processors and sharing the findings with our reviews. So stay tuned to MySmartPrice all the insights.
