Meta Glasses have officially launched globally, starting at $299, bringing Meta AI-powered smart glasses to a wider audience. Developed with EssilorLuxottica, the new lineup features three frame styles, 26 design combinations, prescription lens support, and a special Kylie Jenner edition as Meta pushes to make AI wearables more mainstream.
One of the biggest highlights of the launch is Meta's collaboration with Kylie Jenner, introducing a slim oval-frame design inspired by the celebrity's signature style. Alongside the Kylie edition, the company is also offering Adventurer and Fury frame collections, signalling that Meta is treating smart glasses as both a fashion accessory and an AI device. The new Meta Glasses are powered by Meta AI running on Muse Spark, Meta Superintelligence Labs' latest AI model. The AI assistant can answer questions about what users are looking at, provide navigation, manage schedules, translate information, and perform other hands-free tasks through voice commands. The glasses also feature open-ear speakers, built-in cameras, a dedicated Meta AI button, prescription lens compatibility, over eight hours of battery life, and a charging case that extends total usage to up to 48 hours.
Meta Glasses India Launch and Expected Price
Meta has not announced when the new Meta Glasses will launch in India. Looking at the company's previous hardware launches, including the Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses, India was not among the initial rollout markets. If Meta follows a similar strategy, Indian buyers may have to wait several months after the global release. Although the glasses start at $299 (roughly Rs. 28,000), import duties, GST, and retail margins could push the expected India price closer to Rs. 32,000-38,000 if they are officially launched.
Meta Faces Competition From Samsung and Google
Meta currently enjoys an early lead in the AI smart glasses segment with both its Ray-Ban Meta and recently launched Oakley Meta lineup already available in global markets. However, competition is expected to heat up as Samsung prepares its Android XR-powered smart glasses in partnership with Google and Qualcomm, while Google is also developing next-generation AI glasses focused on Gemini-powered experiences. Unlike its rivals, Meta already has multiple consumer smart glasses in the market, giving the company a significant first-mover advantage.
With a lower starting price, celebrity collaborations, and a stronger focus on everyday usability, Meta is betting that AI glasses can move beyond early adopters and become the next major consumer technology category. Meta isn't trying to sell just another wearable, it's trying to change how people interact with AI. By combining fashion, celebrity appeal, and practical AI features at a relatively accessible price, the company is targeting a much broader audience than earlier smart glasses ever did. The bigger challenge, however, won't be the hardware. It will be convincing consumers that AI glasses deserve a place alongside smartphones and smartwatches. With Samsung and Google preparing their own entries, the next year could determine which ecosystem defines the future of AI wearables.
