Oakley and Meta have announced the Oakley Meta Vanguard, a new pair of AI smart glasses aimed at athletes and fitness enthusiasts. The Oakley Meta Vanguard combines Oakley's performance eyewear design with Meta's AI features. The brand is targeting use cases such as training, endurance sports, and outdoor activities, along with providing an action-ready camera,
integrations with fitness apps, and immersive audio to elevate your workouts.
Oakley Meta Vanguard Design and Features
In terms of durability, the Oakley Meta Vanguard carries an IP67 rating for dust and water resistance, and is designed to work comfortably with helmets and hats. Oakley's Three-Point Fit system is also included, along with three replaceable nose pads offering low- and high-bridge options for a more secure fit. The glasses also use Oakley's PRIZM lens technology, which enhances contrast and visibility in outdoor conditions.
The Oakley Meta Vanguard features a 12-megapixel camera, which is capable of recording up to 3K video with support for slow motion, hyperlapse, and adjustable stabilisation. The camera is fully hands-free, just like other Meta smart glasses, allowing users to capture point-of-view footage during physical activities. The glasses also feature open-ear speakers, which Meta claims are six decibels louder than previous Oakley Meta models, along with a five-microphone array designed to reduce wind noise during calls and voice commands.
On the smart features side, the glasses come with Meta AI and support fitness app syncing, including Garmin. Users can ask for information using voice commands such as, "Hey Meta, what's my heart rate?", and receive real-time updates.
Battery life is rated at up to nine hours of use, with six hours of continuous audio playback. The charging case adds up to 36 additional hours, while a quick-charge feature delivers a 50 percent charge in around 20 minutes.
Additionally, Meta has also introduced Hindi language support for Meta AI on the Oakley Meta Vanguard. So, in Hindi, users can enable voice commands, media control, calls, and messages.
Oakley Meta Vanguard Price and Availability
The Oakley Meta Vanguard will be available in four frame and lens combinations, including Black and White frame options paired with PRIZM 24K, Black, Road, and Sapphire lenses. The smart glasses are priced starting at Rs 52,300 in India and are available through leading optical retailers, including Sunglass Hut and LensCrafters.
