Samsung Electronics has announced a major update to Samsung Health, introducing a suite of new AI-powered health features designed to transform the upcoming Galaxy Watch into a more proactive health companion. The update will begin rolling out from June 8 and introduces new tools including Vitals, Heart Health Score, Daily Cardio Load, Fitness Index, and Hearing Health. Samsung says the features are designed to turn complex biometric data into simple, actionable health insights.
Vitals Monitors Five Overnight Health Signals
The new Vitals feature analyses five key overnight bio-signals including heart rate, heart rate variability, respiratory rate, skin temperature, and blood oxygen levels against a user's resting baseline. Samsung says notifications are only triggered when meaningful deviations are detected, helping users identify potential fatigue or illness while reducing unnecessary alerts.
Heart Health Score and Daily Cardio Load Focus on Long-Term Wellness
Samsung is also introducing Heart Health Score, a unified daily metric that combines sleep, stress, activity, and body composition data to provide a broader view of cardiovascular wellness.

For fitness enthusiasts, Daily Cardio Load measures accumulated cardiovascular strain during aerobic exercise and recommends training intensity and recovery periods based on daily load and maximum training capacity.
The new Fitness Index complements these features by analysing metrics such as heart rate, VO2 Max, and daily step count to benchmark fitness levels and deliver personalised goals and recommendations.
Samsung Health Gets New Design and Additional Wellness Tools
Samsung Health is also receiving a redesigned interface organised around five pillars: Sleep, Activity, Nutrition, Mindfulness, and Vitals. The company says the new layout makes it easier for users to access health information and AI-powered wellness recommendations from a single dashboard.
The update further expands Samsung's wellness ecosystem with improvements to Antioxidant Index and AGEs tracking, alongside a new Hearing Health feature that monitors environmental noise levels through Galaxy Watch and provides personalised hearing protection insights.
Galaxy Watch Becomes the Centre of Samsung's AI Health Strategy
Samsung's latest health update reflects a broader shift across the wearables industry toward AI-driven health insights rather than simple activity tracking. While smartwatches have traditionally focused on collecting data, Samsung is increasingly positioning Galaxy Watch as a platform that interprets that data and provides personalised recommendations.
The emphasis on overnight health monitoring, cardiovascular wellness, and long-term lifestyle tracking places Samsung in direct competition with premium health-focused wearables from Apple, Garmin, and Oura. The success of these new features will ultimately depend on how accurately the system translates biometric data into insights that users find genuinely useful in everyday life.
The new health features will first debut on Samsung's next-generation Galaxy Watch lineup. Samsung notes that availability may vary by market and some features will require sufficient usage data before personalised insights can be generated.
