Levoit Launches Vital Pet Pro Air Purifier With Self-Cleaning Filter Focus In US

Levoit has introduced its latest air purifier, the Vital Pet Pro, timed with National Pet Month, with a clear focus on homes dealing with pet hair, dander, and persistent odours. The launch reflects a broader shift in the category towards use-case-driven appliances rather than one-size-fits-all air purification.

The company claims that the Vital Pet Pro is built around a 3-stage filtration system combining a washable pre-filter, main filter, and an activated carbon layer designed to tackle pet-related pollutants. The company claims the purifier can remove a significant portion of pet odours within an hour, with a relatively heavier carbon load aimed at handling lingering smells, which is typically where most entry-level purifiers struggle.

What stands out here is the addition of an Auto-Clean mechanism, which automatically clears accumulated pet hair from the pre-filter into a detachable tray. This is a meaningful shift, especially in markets like India, where long-term maintenance, rather than upfront performance, becomes the biggest friction point for users.

Focus on Pet-Specific Use Cases

Unlike standard purifiers that focus largely on PM2.5 levels, the Vital Pet Pro leans into real-world pet scenarios. A redesigned air inlet is positioned to capture floating pet hair more effectively, while onboard sensors track air quality and adjust performance automatically. There is also app connectivity via VeSync for remote monitoring, alongside a low-noise sleep mode aimed at bedroom use.

Where This Fits in the Market

Levoit already has a presence in India with models like the LV-H128, which we have tested earlier. In our experience, that unit worked well as a compact, entry-level purifier with decent filtration efficiency, but it lacked scale and automation, which limited its appeal beyond smaller rooms or occasional use.

The Vital Pet Pro signals a move up the stack, with maintenance automation and stronger odour handling becoming the key differentiators rather than just incremental gains in filtration.

Niche Within a Niche

At roughly $199.99, the Vital Pet Pro translates to around ₹16,500–₹17,000, placing it in the mid-range of the air purifier market globally. If and when it comes to India, pricing, localisation, and after-sales support will be critical.

The bigger challenge, however, is market behaviour. Air purifier penetration in India remains largely urban and seasonal, with most households in metros still limiting usage to peak smog months. Even among buyers, ownership typically caps at one unit per home, unlike more mature markets where multi-room deployment is common.

At the same time, pet ownership is rising steadily in urban India, especially among younger consumers in apartments. This creates a very specific overlap segment where a product like the Vital Pet Pro could find relevance, but it is still a niche within an already niche category.

The Shift Beyond Just Clean Air

What this launch underlines is a broader shift in the category. Air purifiers are no longer being positioned purely around air quality metrics but around ease of use and real-life scenarios, whether that is pet care, maintenance, or automation.

For India, where friction points like filter cleaning and long-term upkeep often determine whether a device is used regularly or stored away post-winter, these changes could matter more than marginal improvements in purification performance.
