Build Quality and Design

When I first unboxed the Eureka Forbes Air Purifier 150, its lightweight build immediately caught my attention. Weighing just 2.14 kg, it’s incredibly easy to move around, whether I need it in the bedroom at night or in the living room during the day. The body is made of plastic, which keeps it light but still feels reasonably sturdy for everyday use.

The touch controls are conveniently placed on the top of the unit, making them easily accessible. Navigating through the settings was straightforward: there’s a power button, fan speed controls with Low, Medium, and High settings, and a timer function that can be set for 2, 4, or 6 hours. I particularly appreciated the timer feature—it allowed me to set the purifier to run for a specific duration without worrying about turning it off manually.

Design-wise, it’s minimalist and doesn’t take up much space, which is great if you’re short on space. While it doesn’t boast a premium finish, the simple aesthetics mean it can blend into most home decors without standing out like an eyesore.

Filters and Air Purification Performance

The Eureka Forbes Air Purifier 150 features a three-stage filtration system: a pre-filter, an activated carbon filter, and a True H13 HEPA filter. This combination is designed to tackle everything from large particles like dust and pet hair to microscopic pollutants and odours. To assess its effectiveness, I conducted two tests in the MSP lab, placing the purifier in a corner and then in the centre of the room.

Corner Test

Time (Minutes) AQI HCHO (mg/m³) TVOC (mg/m³) PM2.5 (µg/m³)
Starting Reading 100 0.186 0.812 401
10 Minute Reading 100 0.188 0.83 312
20 Minute Reading 86 0.188 0.821 215
25 Minute Reading 72 0.186 0.831 181
Ultimate Reading 35 0.185 0.826 89

The Eureka Forbes Air Purifier 150 offers dependable performance for consumers prioritising clean air on a budget. Starting with a PM 2.5 reading of 401 µg/m³, it steadily brings levels down to 312 in 10 minutes and 181 in 25 minutes before ultimately achieving a PM 2.5 level of 89 µg/m³. While its speed trails behind Smart Air Sqair (priced at ₹9,990), Sharp Air Purifier FP-JA30M-B (priced at ₹8,900) and Qubo Smart Air Purifier Q200 (priced at ₹6,690), its ability to consistently reach excellent ultimate air quality levels showcases its robust filtration technology. The AQI improvement follows a similar pattern, dropping from 100 to 86 in 25 minutes and concluding at 35. With a solid performance in managing HCHO and TVOC levels, this purifier is a reliable pick for consumers seeking comprehensive air purification, particularly in moderately polluted environments.

Centre Test

Time (Minutes) AQI HCHO (mg/m³) TVOC (mg/m³) PM2.5 (µg/m³)
Starting Reading 100 0.181 0.809 390
10 Minute Reading 100 0.185 0.826 288
20 Minute Reading 83 0.186 0.822 208
25 Minute Reading 69 0.187 0.854 173
Ultimate Reading 34 0.188 0.821 86

In the centre test, the air purifier from Eureka Forbes also follows a similar pattern. The Eureka Forbes Air Purifier 150 delivers steady and dependable performance, catering to users seeking reliability over rapid results. Starting at PM 2.5 levels of 390 µg/m³, it reduces pollutants to 288 in 10 minutes and 208 in 20 minutes before settling at 86 µg/m³. While slightly slower than Sharp Air Purifier FP-JA30M-B (review) and Qubo Smart Air Purifier Q200 (review), its final air quality is equally commendable. The AQI improvement from 100 to 34 in 25 minutes indicates consistent filtration. Furthermore, with HCHO levels of 0.181 mg/m³ and TVOC readings of 0.809 mg/m³, it effectively tackles harmful pollutants, ensuring comprehensive air purification. This model is ideal for users who prioritise consistent performance in maintaining healthier indoor environments.

Ease of Changing Filters and Cost

One of the things I appreciate about the Eureka Forbes Air Purifier 150 is how straightforward it is to replace the filters. When it’s time for a change, all I have to do is flip the unit upside down and twist the filter cap open. The old filter slides out effortlessly, and inserting the new one is just as simple. This user-friendly design means I don’t have to wrestle with complicated mechanisms or spend extra time on maintenance.

As for the cost, the replacement filters are reasonably priced, which makes the ongoing upkeep of the purifier quite affordable.

Noise Levels

Noise level is an important consideration, especially if you’re planning to use the air purifier in a bedroom or workspace. I checked to see how the Eureka Forbes Air Purifier 150 performs in this regard. At a distance of one foot, the peak sound level registered at 52.5 dB, which is about as loud as a quiet office or a normal conversation at home. On the lowest setting, the sound dropped to 38.2 dB, akin to the gentle hum of a refrigerator. Personally, I found the noise to be manageable. Even at its highest setting, the sound was more of a background white noise that didn’t disrupt my activities or sleep.

Smart Features and IoT Integration

When it comes to smart features, the Eureka Forbes Air Purifier 150 keeps things straightforward. There are no smart features or IoT integration included with this model. This means there’s no mobile app control, no compatibility with voice assistants like Alexa or Google Assistant, and no real-time air quality monitoring via smartphone. While some might see this as a downside, especially if you’re tech-savvy and enjoy smart home gadgets, I found the simplicity refreshing. The touch controls on the device are intuitive and easy to use, making it accessible for everyone, including those who aren’t as comfortable with technology. If you’re looking for an air purifier that focuses on core functionality without the extra bells and whistles, this model fits the bill nicely.

Final Verdict

After spending considerable time with the Eureka Forbes Air Purifier 150, I can say that it’s a solid entry-level option for those seeking cleaner air without breaking the bank. Its compact design and lightweight build make it easy to move around, and the straightforward touch controls are user-friendly. The three-stage filtration system—comprising a pre-filter, activated carbon filter, and True H13 HEPA filter—effectively reduces pollutants in small spaces up to 200 sq. ft.

In my tests, the purifier consistently reduced AQI and PM2.5 levels significantly within 25 minutes. While it lagged slightly behind some competitors in its price range during initial testing, it managed to match their performance after running for over 45 minutes. The ease of changing filters is a definite plus; flipping the unit upside down and twisting the filter cap open makes maintenance a breeze. While it lacks smart features and IoT integration, this simplicity might appeal to those who prefer a no-fuss appliance.

The noise levels are manageable, especially on the lower settings, but can be noticeable at the highest fan speed. If you’re sensitive to sound, this is something to consider. Overall, if you’re looking for an affordable, effective air purifier without the extras, the Eureka Forbes Air Purifier 150 is a commendable choice that offers excellent value for money.
