It’s that time of the year again when everyone starts the great hunt for air purifiers to take that AQI number down, at least in their homes. However, the biggest concern for many has been that the air purifiers are a little bit expensive, and if you are looking for something on the budget font, then the options are very limited. To address this issue, Honeywell has launched its Touch V2 air purifier, which sits below the Rs 10,000 mark. We have had the chance to test it out in our studio, and we ran several tests on it to know whether the claims that the company is making are true or not. So, in this review, we will talk about our experience with the Honeywell Air Touch V2. Let’s jump right in!
Build Quality and Design
The Honeywell Air Touch V2 boasts a modern aesthetic and a lightweight and durable plastic build. At 4.87 kg, it is compact enough to fit seamlessly into various home environments. As the name suggests, the device features touch controls, making it intuitive to operate despite the absence of a display screen. The overall construction feels sturdy, ensuring longevity while maintaining a sleek appearance.
Filters and Air Purification Performance
The Honeywell Air Touch V2 uses a combination of a Pre-Filter, a Nano-Silver Anti-Bacterial Filter, an H13 HEPA Filter, and an Activated Carbon Filter. Together, these layers effectively target PM2.5, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and odours. To test its real-world performance, we conducted corner and centre placement tests in our lab.
Corner Test
In our corner test, the Honeywell Air Touch V2 performed well, gradually reducing PM2.5 and AQI levels over 25 minutes. Starting with PM2.5 levels at 400 µg/m³ and AQI at 100, the purifier brought these down to 162 µg/m³ and AQI 64 after 25 minutes. Its ultimate performance saw PM2.5 reduced to 85 µg/m³, while AQI reached a much healthier level of 34. However, its performance lags slightly behind competitors in the same price range.
For instance, the Sharp Air Purifier FP-JA30M-B (review) reduced PM2.5 levels from 388 µg/m³ to 52 µg/m³ and AQI to 24 in the same duration. Its consistent performance and lower final PM2.5 readings make it a strong contender for users prioritising rapid air cleaning. Similarly, the Qubo Smart Air Purifier Q200 (review) delivered the fastest results among the three, reducing PM2.5 from 392 µg/m³ to an impressive 34 µg/m³ and AQI to 21.
While the Honeywell Air Touch V2 provides solid performance, its slightly slower reduction rates may not match the more aggressive cleaning capabilities of the Qubo Q200 or Sharp FP-JA30M-B. That said, it still ensures significant improvements in air quality, making it a dependable choice for small—to medium-sized spaces.
Centre Test
During the centre test, the Honeywell Air Touch V2 delivered commendable results, albeit slightly behind its competitors. Starting with PM2.5 levels of 393 µg/m³ and AQI at 100, the purifier reduced PM2.5 to 166 µg/m³ and AQI to 66 in 25 minutes. Ultimately, it brought PM2.5 down to 92 µg/m³ and AQI to 36, demonstrating a consistent improvement in air quality over time.
Comparatively, the Sharp Air Purifier FP-JA30M-B exhibited faster and more efficient air cleaning capabilities. Within the same duration, it reduced an initial PM2.5 of 399 µg/m³ and AQI of 100 to 47 µg/m³ and AQI of 26. This performance highlights its strength in handling air purification tasks more aggressively.
The Qubo Smart Air Purifier Q200, however, set the benchmark for centre test performance. Starting at 405 µg/m³ for PM2.5 and AQI at 100, it reduced these to an impressive 31 µg/m³ and AQI 29 in just 25 minutes. Its rapid reduction of harmful particles positions it as the fastest performer among the three.
While the Honeywell Air Touch V2 significantly improves air quality, users who want the fastest or most thorough cleaning may prefer the Sharp FP-JA30M-B or Qubo Q200. Nevertheless, the Honeywell Air Touch V2 remains reliable for moderate air purification requirements.
Ease of Changing Filters and Cost
Changing filters in the Honeywell Air Touch V2 is easy, which is a significant advantage for users who may not be familiar with air purifiers. The cost of replacement filters is reasonable, ensuring that maintenance does not become a financial burden over time.
Moreover, the filter availability is generally good, making it convenient for users to keep their devices running optimally.
Noise Levels
Noise levels are an important consideration for any air purifier. During testing, we measured sound levels at a one-foot distance:
- Peak sound level reached: 55.8 dB
- Minimum sound level recorded: 29.5 dB
These figures suggest that while the purifier can be noticeable at higher settings, it remains relatively quiet during lower operations, making it suitable for use in bedrooms or quiet spaces.
Smart Features and IoT Integration
Unfortunately, the Honeywell Air Touch V2 lacks smart features such as IoT integration or remote operation via smartphones. It also does not support scheduling or compatibility with smart assistants (e.g., Google Assistant, or Alexa), which may deter tech-savvy users who want modern conveniences in their home appliances.
Final Verdict
After thoroughly testing the Honeywell Air Touch V2, we find it to be a reliable choice for small to medium-sized spaces requiring consistent air purification. Its compact design and lightweight plastic build make it easy to place in any room, and the touch-based controls ensure straightforward operation. However, the absence of a display or remote control might be a drawback for some users.
The purifier’s Pre-Filter, Nano-Silver Anti-Bacterial Filter, H13 HEPA Filter, and Activated Carbon Filter performed admirably during our tests. Whether placed in a corner or the centre of a room, they significantly reduced PM2.5 and AQI levels within 25 minutes. This consistent performance demonstrates its ability to maintain air quality effectively across different positions.
Filter replacement is hassle-free, and while filter availability is good, clearer details on replacement costs would improve the overall user experience. Noise levels remain low, with whisper-quiet operation at lower settings and moderate noise at higher speeds, making it suitable for bedrooms or living spaces.
The lack of smart features, such as IoT connectivity or app-based controls, limits its advanced functionality, but this keeps the device simple for users who prefer a no-fuss approach. Priced at Rs 7,999, the Honeywell Air Touch V2 offers solid performance for its category, making it an excellent entry-level option for those prioritising clean air on a budget.
