Rumours were rife that Apple will launch a new MacBook with a faster chip dubbed as M1X. The tag under the keynote suggests that a new MacBook Pro does exist. Let’s take a look at more details on the M1X MacBook Pro that could launch later this year.

Apple M1X MacBook Pro confirmed?

Apple was rumoured to launch the M1X MacBook Pro at WWDC 2021. While that did not happen, Apple may have confirmed the new MacBook accidentally. One of the tags uploaded under the WWDC 2021 Keynote on YouTube has the tag M1X and M1X MacBook Pro.

The tag does not totally indicate the launch but does suggest that Apple could launch a new MacBook Pro later this year. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reported that the upcoming Pro MacBook could launch this summer.

The rumoured MacBook Pro is expected to launch in 14” and 16” screens. The 14-inch variant is codenamed J314, whereas the 16-inch model has the codename J316. These two models will feature a redesigned chassis and magnetic charging. They will also come with multiple ports, including the HDMI port and SD card slot.

Apple will also launch two separate chips for the new Pro models. These are codenamed Jade C-Chop and Jade C-Die. Both chips will feature eight high-performance cores and two energy-efficient cores. The difference will lie in the GPU. The report claims that either model will come with 16 or 32 GPU cores. The M1 chip, in comparison, came with four performance and four efficiency cores. It also has eight graphics cores. The new chip will also come with support for up to 64GB of RAM as opposed to 16GB on the current M1 chip.
