  • Apple could introduce devices with M4 processors later this year of early 2025.

Apple launched the M3, M3 Pro, and M3 Max chipsets in October last year with a 16-core CPU, dynamic caching, and Accelerated Ray Tracing. Now, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has reported that the Cupertino-based tech giant is already working on three M4 chipsets, which will succeed the existing M3 lineup.

It looks like the M4 lineup will include the base M4, M4 Pro, and the M4 Max chipset, which is in line with what Apple has introduced so far. Devices with the new M4 processors could arrive later this year or early 2025. The report also reveals that all the M4 chipsets will be equipped with AI features.

Apple Plans to Release First M4-Powered Macs Later This Year

According to the report, the first batch of devices with Apple M4 chipsets, such as new iMacs, a base MacBook Pro 14-inch model, a higher-end MacBook Pro 14-inch and MacBook Pro 16-inch mode, and a new Mac Mini, could be introduced later this year or early 2025.

Apple’s new 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Air with M4 processors and an M4-powered Mac Studio will only be available by mid-2025. The entry-level MacBook Air models will be powered by the baseline M4 processor, which is codenamed Donan. The company could introduce the Mac Pro with 512GB of unified memory and an M4 Hidra chipset by the end of 2025. The M4 Max’s codename is Hidra.

As confirmed earlier, the company has already announced its WWDC conference from June 10 to June 14. At the WWDC event, the brand is expected to introduce iOS 18. At the same event, we can expect Apple to reveal more details about integrating AI features in the new macOS 15 update as well.
