Apple is reportedly working on a new lineup of iPad and MacBook Pro models, which will include a new iPad Pro, iPad Air, and M3-powered MacBook Pro. The new devices are expect to debut this year. Reporter Mark Gurman of Bloomberg has now shared new details in the latest edition of his weekly newsletter PowerOn.
He expects Apple to debut the new iPad Pro, iPad Air, and M3 MacBook Air by the end of March 2024. This also means we are just about two months away from the official release. Let’s take a look at what is expected from Apple in the iPad and MacBook lineup for 2024.
Apple Ready to Refresh iPad and MacBook Air Lineup This March
Gurman’s latest newsletter mentions Apple has already begun production for the new iPad Pro and MacBook Air. It is not surprising considering the rumoured release timeline is for March end. This is not the first time we are hearing reports of this launch window as Gurman made a similar claim last month as well. The latest report suggests Apple’s production and launch plans are moving ahead as expected.
iPad Air and iPad Pro 2024: What’s New?
It has been a long time since Apple refreshed the iPad lineup. It did not announce any new iPad model in 2023. It means we should get at least one iPad refresh this year.
The iPad Air (2024) is tipped to be available in a new 12.9-inch display variant alongside the existing 10.9-inch. It is expected to be powered by the M2 chipset for performance upgrades. Other rumoured changes include a redesigned camera bump on the back, Bluetooth 5.3, and WiFi 6E.
As for the iPad Pro (2024), Apple will release it in 11-inch and 13-inch display size models, according to Gurman. Both variants will feature LTPO OLED display which would make it the first iPad with OLED display. This means users can expect improved content consumption, better power efficiency, and brighter panels.
The second biggest addition would be the use of the new M3 processor. These would become among the most powerful iPads that one can get. The new iPad Pro is further expected to have improved cameras and up to 4TB of storage space. All these changes will also mean increased prices too. A recent report claimed the starting price to be around USD 1,500 and USD 1,800 for the two variants respectively.
MacBook Air (2024): What’s New?
The new MacBook Air is reported to arrive in 13-inch and 15-inch display options. It will be powered by the new M3 chipset which we also saw in the MacBook Pro refresh last year. The new MacBook Air is expected to continue with the same design as the currently available models. However, it may receive WiFi 6E support.
