Apple is rumoured to refresh its Watch series later this year. According to rumours, the Watch Series 7 is slated to launch in H2 2021. Apple could unveil the new smartwatch in September alongside the iPhones. The company has not made any official announcement on Series 7. However, a few details of the upcoming Apple Watch have leaked online. According to a new report from Bloomberg, the upcoming Series 7 Watch will come with an upgraded design. It will continue to feature an updated ultra-wideband (UWB) chip found on the Apple Watch Series 6. Let’s take a look at more details on the upcoming Apple Watch Series 7.

Apple Watch Series 7 design, specifications tipped

Apple is expected to launch the Watch Series 7 later this year. Ahead of the launch, some design details and specifications of the watch have been tipped. Bloomberg claims that Watch Series 7 will launch later this year. Apple is also working on a new version targeting sports athletes. This model and the Apple Watch SE successor are likely to launch in 2022.

The Series 7 will get some major upgrades. It will get a faster processor, improved wireless connectivity and an updated screen. Apple is said to have tested the Series 7 with thinner borders and a new lamination technique that brings the display closer to the front cover. It will be slightly thicker compared to Series 6. The watch will also feature an updated UWB chip (possibly U2).

Mark Gurman from Bloomberg further claims that the rumoured body temperature sensor is likely to feature in the 2022 Watch. The blood-sugar sensor for glucose level monitoring is also unlikely to be commercial-ready for several more years.

Details of the other two smartwatches tipped to launch in 2022 are unavailable at the moment. Previously, tipster Jon Prosser had leaked the Watch Series 7 design renders. The render images suggest that the design of the Apple Watch will be similar to other Apple products launched this year. This means that it will have flatter edges and not the slightly curved edges found on Series 6. Apple is also expected to launch the Watch 7 in multiple colours, including Pastel Green and Blue colour options. It will also come in Black and Silver colour options.
