ASUS recently started sharing teasers for the launch of the upcoming ASUS ROG Phone 8 series smartphones. The forthcoming ASUS ROG Phone 8 series will include ROG Phone 8, ROG Phone 8 Pro and ROG Phone 8 Ultimate smartphones. Now, Windows Report has exclusively revealed the renders and specifications of the upcoming ROG Phone 8 and ROG Phone 8 Pro smartphones.

The report also divulges the accessories that will debut with the upcoming devices. Meanwhile, Asus has confirmed that it will debut the upcoming smartphones at the CES 2024 event. The official account of ROG on Weibo revealed that the device will launch in China on January 16. ASUS ROG Phone 8 and ROG Phone 8 Pro Leaked Specifications

The renders reveal that ASUS will equip the upcoming ROG Phone 8 and ROG Phone 8 Pro smartphones with a squarish design with flat edges and rounded corners. ASUS teased the forthcoming devices with the tagline “Beyond Gaming”, indicating its capability beyond performance. The Taiwanese company aims to attract a different category of customers apart from gamers.

ASUS will equip the device with a centred punch hole departing from the traditional placement on the top bezel of the display to offer a whole-screen experience. The renders divulge that the rear of the device will be clean except for the RGB logo and brand taglines. The power button and volume rockers can be seen on the right side of the device, according to the leaked images.

ASUS is likely to debut the vanilla ROG Phone 8 with a matte and grippy finish. In contrast, the Pro variant of the device will sport a more glossy and premium feel for the upcoming device.

Asus will equip both smartphones with a 6.78-inch Samsung Flexible AMOLED display with Full HD+ resolution and 120Hz refresh rate.

The displays will be protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 and will sport HDR10+ certification. The ROG Phone 8 Pro will feature a LTPO display with a refresh rate varying from 1-120Hz. The Pro variant will also support 165Hz refresh rates for gaming. ASUS will equip the device with a peak brightness of 2500 nits.

Under the hood, the ROG Phone 8 and ROG Phone 8 Pro will sport Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC with a clock speed of 3.3GHz. The chipset will pair with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 internal storage. The vanilla device will be available in a 12GB RAM + 256GB storage variant. The Pro variant will debut in 16GB + 512GB and 24GB + 1TB storage variants.

The smartphones will run on ROG UI based on Android 14 out of the box. The ROG Phone 8 series smartphones will be backed by a 5500mAh battery with support for Quick Charge 5.0 and PD charging. The 3C certifications of the device revealed the support for 65W wired fast charging. ASUS will debut the devices with a 5-magnet speaker system, 3.5mm jack, Hi-Res Audio, and Dirac Virtuo for headphones.

The triple rear camera setup of the upcoming ROG Phone 8 Pro will sport a 50MP Sony IMX 890 primary sensor paired with OIS. The sensor will be paired with a 13MP ultrawide lens and a 32MP telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom. The Pro variant of the device will also feature a 32MP selfie camera. ASUS will equip both smartphones with IP68 water and dust resistance.

ROG Phone 8 Accessories

ASUS will also launch a DEVILCASE Guardian case to support the AeroActive Cooler X. The case can also be used to attach a transparent backplate to view the RGB lighting. The AeroActive Cooler X can also be used as a stand for the device. The cooler can be attached to the device with the USB Type-C port on the side. A standard TPU case with an antibacterial screen protector will also be available for the ROG Phone 8 series smartphones.
