Since every big name in the tech space is doing something in the realm of generative AI, it was only a matter of time before Elon Musk jumped on the bandwagon as well. His AI-focused startup xAI announced its own AI chatbot called Grok earlier last month. The chatbot is now available for public use in the United States but as part of a phased release for select premium subscribers of X (formerly Twitter).

How to Use Elon Musk’s Gark AI Chatbot

As announced by X on its official account, the Gark AI chatbot is finally getting a public release that everyone has been waiting for. But it is currently available only for select X Premium+ subscribers in the United States. The rollout will take place over the week and “the longer you’ve been a subscriber, the sooner you can grok.”

X Premium+ is the most expensive tier of the X Premium subscription. It costs Rs 1,300 per month or Rs 13,600 per year when subscribed through the web. It will cost about 30% more if you choose to subscribe via the Android or iOS application. It comes with various other perks like no ads, the largest reply boost, and ad-revenue sharing among others.

What is Grok

Grok will be accessible from the side menu on X web, Android, and iOS. If you are using the smartphone app, make sure you are on the latest version. The app will also let you add Grok to the bottom menu for easy access. Once it becomes available for your account, you can start engaging it with by asking questions or engaging in conversations.

While Grok looks like any other AI chatbot on the surface, it has a completely different way of replying to questions and conversations. Musk has described it as maximally curious, truth curious, and filled with a sense of humour. One major difference between Grok and other major AI chatbots is that it does not have the politically correct filter.

Its replies can be labeled as “anti-woke” and could be triggering for some. This is the reason X wrapped up its announcement by saying, “Don’t forget your towel!”.

Another major difference between Gork and other AI chatbots is that it has real-time access to the data. It means it can give more accurate real-time updates as compared to other chatbots. One user asked Gork what is happening in AI today and he received updated answers. Gork correctly mentioned Google’s announcement of Gemini AI and Meta’s announcement of 20 new generative AI experiences.

Gork is certainly turning out to be an intriguing AI chatbot. It is unknown when it will become available to X Premium+ users in India but we will keep you posted.
