The concept of humanoid robots has always been fascinating, thanks to all the sci-fi movies we have all grown up watching. As a result, any new development in that department always grabs headlines. Billionaire Elon Musk has now revealed the Optimus Gen 2, a humanoid robot that not only walks and talks but can also dance and boil eggs. Musk has been one of the most vocal voices when it comes to talking about Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its impact on humanity, so it is not surprise he is trying to build humanoid robots at Tesla.

The unveiling took place with a demo video posted on Musk’s platform, X, accompanied by a simple yet intriguing caption: “Optimus.” The video takes viewers on a journey, starting with the earlier versions of humanoid robots introduced in 2021 and 2022.

The Optimus Gen 2 steals the spotlight with enhanced features, including faster walking speed, intricate hand movements, and tactile sensing on its fingers.

Optimus Gen 2’s Diverse Capabilities

The video claims that the Optimus Gen 2 has a level of sophistication that replicates human talents, from exercising such as doing squats to preparing eggs, and is even capable of dancing. The elegant design adds an aesthetic touch, making it shockingly similar to its human counterparts.

Operating on a custom Tesla computer chip, the Optimus Gen 2 boasts processing power necessary for complex tasks. Similar to Tesla’s electric cars, the humanoid robot stays connected via WiFi and LTE, enabling remote updates and control. With audio capabilities for clear communication and built-in cybersecurity features, Tesla ensures the robot’s secure and efficient operation.

Fueled by a 2.3-kilowatt-hour battery, the Optimus Gen 2 promises extended operation without frequent recharging. This energy efficiency sets it apart from traditional robots, making it a sustainable and long-lasting solution for various applications.

Originally introduced as Tesla Bot during the AI Day event in 2021, the Tesla Optimus project aims to create a general-purpose robot capable of handling unsafe, repetitive, or mundane tasks for humans.
