Garena, the gaming arm of Singaporean tech giant Sea, has announced the relaunch of Free Fire in India on August 31. The game titled ‘Free Fire India’ has finally got a green signal from the Indian Government after being banned for more than a year and a half. During the official announcement, Garena stated that Free Fire India would be launched on September 5.

In a surprising turn of events, the game won’t be released today as the developer has announced the postponement of the much-anticipated launch of Free Fire India. Free Fire fans who have longed for the game since its ban in the country were delighted as the developers announced the game with big changes and were eagerly waiting for its release.

The game is set to make its return with Mahendra Singh Dhoni as its brand ambassador and his in-game character. This unexpected decision from the developers has left Free Fire India fans in disappointment.

Garena has announced the postponement of Free Fire India’s launch through its official social media handles. The game’s creators also expressed their happiness at the overwhelming support and excitement from the community for the game’s release. According to the announcement, the release has been delayed by a few weeks, and the developers have not given a new release date.

The delay is mainly intended to ensure that the game’s Indian launch would offer the best possible experience ever. In order to achieve this, the team is devoting additional work to fine-tuning gameplay and perfecting the localization of the Free Fire India experience.

Despite the delay, Free Fire India expressed heartfelt appreciation to its fan base for their constant backing and enthusiasm. The development team promised fans that the wait would be worth it, guaranteeing the ultimate battle royale experience once the game is out.

Free Fire India Launch: MS Dhoni as Brand Ambassador and Major Changes

Garena has teamed with Yotta, a Hiranandani Group firm and a Cloud Service Provider accredited by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, to ensure data protection.

The developers have introduced MS Dhoni as Free Fire India’s brand ambassador. Thala, an in-game character inspired by the cricketing giant, is set to make his debut in the game as part of this partnership. Apart from him, four other sportspersons, Sunil Chhetri, Saina Nehwal, Leader Paes, and Rahul Chaudhary are featured in the game’s announcement trailer.

The changes coming to the game are OTP verification for minors, limited playtime hours, in-game spending restrictions for minors, virtual game announcements, and break reminders. Minors can play the game for up to three hours while majors can play the game for up to 6 hours.
