Google is reportedly gearing up to launch the second generation of its foldable smartphone. Kamila Wojciechowska, a reliable tipster on X (formerly Twitter), has revealed that Google could debut the Pixel 9 Pro Fold instead of the Pixel Fold 2.

The tipster has partnered with Android Authority and confirmed that a Google Insider has tipped that there will be a fourth smartphone in the Google Pixel 9 series. The upcoming Pixel 9 Pro Fold will sport the Comet codename. Here is a list of the codenames of the regular Google Pixel 9 series smartphones.

  • Pixel 9: Tokay
  • Pixel 9 Pro: Caiman
  • Pixel 9 Pro XL: Komodo

The publication spotted the codenames of the upcoming Pixel smartphones on the software built for these devices. The report suggests that the Pixel 9 Pro Fold moniker will not be final and could change in the coming months.

Everything We Know So Far About the Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold

Ross Young, a well-known tipster on X (formerly Twitter), revealed that Google could equip the smartphone with an 8.02-inch inner screen, which is considerably higher than the Pixel Fold. The cover screen of the Pixel 9 Pro Fold is tipped to measure 6.29 inches.

The smartphone’s CAD renders were leaked, hinting that the device will measure 155.2 x 150.2 x 5.27 mm when unfolded. In contrast, the foldable smartphone will measure 152 x 77.1 x 10.54 mm in the folded state.

The right side of the device will house the power button and the volume rockers. The inner screen will house an under-display selfie camera, which is new for a Google Pixel foldable device. Google will equip the smartphone with triple cameras on the rear, along with an LED flash.
