Christmas has arrived early for gaming fans as Rockstar Games has finally released the first GTA 6 trailer. The much-awaited trailer was originally planned for a release later today but due to an early leak, the team was forced to make it live way ahead of the schedule. As one would have expected, it gives us a good glimpse of what to expect from the next-generation title in the iconic open-world crime franchise Grand Theft Auto aka GTA. The current-gen title GTA 5 was released in 2013 which means it has been over a decade since the launch.

GTA 6 Coming to PlayStation and Xbox in 2025

The biggest highlight of the GTA 6 trailer is the introduction of the series’ first female protagonist Lucia. Rockstar Games has only used male protagonists in GTA games so far but this is changing with the upcoming release. She is shown as a prison inmate at the beginning of the trailer.

The trailer then goes on to show the vibrant Vice City which is a fictitious city inspired by Miami, Florida. This is a city GTA fans are familiar with, thanks to the popular GTA Vice City released in 2002. While the previous game showed an 80s crime world and the vibes of the city, GTA 6 will take a modern-age take on the city.

It is the reason GTA fans who have played Vice City will see a huge difference between the two eras despite feeling a sense of familiarity at the same time. Since social media is all the rage in our real world nowadays, Rockstar has integrated the same in GTA 6 as well. You can see people making TikToks/Reels, recording videos, and some posts from official but fictional government accounts.

After showing the whole modern American hedonistic vibe of Vice City including wildlife and tons of NPCs, the trailer proceeds to show the second protagonist Jason. It shows both Jason and Lucia know each other well and join hands to commit crimes in Bonnie and Clyde manner. The trailer ends by revealing the GTA 6 release date timeline which is 2025.

A brief description of the game has been shared by the company in a press release, “Grand Theft Auto VI heads to the state of Leonida, home to the neon-soaked streets of Vice City and beyond in the biggest, most immersive evolution of the Grand Theft Auto series yet.”

GTA 6 is officially confirmed to release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S consoles. It will undoubtedly land on PCs too but no official release timeline has been shared yet. If we go by the GTA 5 track record, there was a gap of over a year between the console and PC launches.

Rockstar Games is yet to share GTA 6 pre-order details but we will keep you updated as and when those details will be made public.
