Today, Honor has revealed that its upcoming smartphone, the Honor V20 will feature ‘The NINE’ liquid cooling technology. This cooling technology was first showcased at the Honor Note 10 conference in China.

At the Honor Note 10 conference, the brand said that this new liquid cooling technology can provide up to 10 degrees celsius reduction in the SoC temperature. However, the figures that Honor provided were for the Honor Note 10 smartphone. The cooling in the Honor V20 could differ. Although, not by a huge margin.

What Is Honor V20’s ‘The NINE’ Liquid Cooling Technology?

As the name suggests, ‘The NINE’ liquid cooling technology has nine layer thermal design, which includes copper alloy shield, a copper heat pipe, and a graphene heat sink among other things. According to the brand, ‘The NINE’ liquid cooling technology provides PC-level liquid cooling.

As you might know, when the CPU and the GPU are put under load, they tend to heat up. When the temperature reaches a certain point, the clock frequency at which the CPU and GPU work, drops significantly, resulting in a frequency throttling and decreased performance. However, with ‘The NINE’ liquid cooling technology, Honor expects to keep the temperatures of the SoC low. So that, even under load, the CPU and the GPU do not thermal throttle, and continue to work at high clock frequencies, thereby, providing a stable performance.

This technology will mostly benefit in gaming; it can provide a higher frame rates for a smoother gaming experience. As for the Honor V20 itself, it is expected to launch on 26 December 2018, at an event in Beijing. Here is what we know so far about the Honor V20.

Honor V20 Expected Specifications

The Honor V20 has leaked many times now. The leaked posters reveal that the smartphone will feature a display with a hole in it for the camera, instead of a conventional or water drop notch. However, the display size of the Honor V20 is still unknown. So far, there has been no leak as to which processor the Honor V20 will be using. However, we expect it to have the latest Kirin 980 SoC. A leaked poster of the smartphone that leaked earlier today reveals that the Honor V20 will be available in two configurations; 6GB RAM + 64GB storage, and 6GB RAM + 128GB storage.

The smartphone is expected to feature a 48MP rear camera, which will be one of the highlights of the device. The rear camera is also expected to feature 960 FPS video recording. Recently, Honor teased the device with an image, which suggests that the smartphone will have AI-powered GPS. A leaked poster of the Honor V20 reveals that the smartphone will have a 4800mAh battery.

How Much Could the Honor V20 Cost?

A poster that leaked earlier today reveals that the smartphone will be priced at CNY 2,799 (approximately INR 28,500) for the 6GB RAM + 64GB storage variant, and CNY 3,299 (approximately INR 33,600) for the 6GB RAM + 128GB storage variant. A few reports suggest that the brand will also launch the Maserati Edition of the same smartphone.
