Horizon Forbidden West and Elden Ring are easily two of the most highly anticipated games of the coming year and it looks like their downloaded size have been revealed ahead of time. PlayStation Game Size digs through the backend of the PlayStation Store to determine the downloaded size of titles ahead of launch and it looks like Horizon Forbidden West will be a hefty game to download.

PlayStation Game Size has been fairly accurate with their data mines so far, and they’ve revealed that Horizon Forbidden West on the PS5 will be a 96.350 GB download, without the day one patch. Elden Ring, on the other hand, will be relatively smaller, with a 44.472 GB download, also without the day one patch.

Horizon Forbidden West and Elden Ring downloaded sizes revealed

According to PlayStation Game Size, players will be able to pre-load Elden Ring two days before the launch, that is, on February 23. Players who have pre-ordered Horizon Forbidden West will be able to pre-load the game on February 11, 2022, roughly a week before launch.

Horizon Forbidden West, from what we’ve seen so far, looks to be a fairly expansive game with a gigantic map and a bunch of in-deep gameplay systems. Thus, the nearly 100 GB download seems fairly reasonable. An additional caveat from PlayStation Game Size suggests that some games on the database backend have bigger sizes than the real space they take up on the console ( by roughly 10-20 GB).

Elden Ring, on other hand, comes in a respectable 45 GB download, which is significantly more than other FromSoftware games on PlayStation. This is primarily because it feels like Elden Ring is about the most expansive version of the soulslike gameplay formula. As two of the biggest games for the PS5, all eyes will be on Guerilla Games and From Software come February 2022.
