Huawei Nova 12 Series Confirmed to Launch on December 26 in China

Huawei confirmed the launch date of the upcoming Huawei Nova 12 series.

Huawei has been teasing the launch of the Huawei Nova 12 series smartphones through various teasers on Weibo. Richard Yu, CEO of Huawei Consumer Business Group, has confirmed the launch date of the upcoming smartphones. The teaser shared by the CEO also reveals a first look into the design of the forthcoming Nova series smartphones. The upcoming series is likely to consist of Huawei Nova 12, Huawei Nova 12 Pro, and Huawei Nova 12 Ultra smartphones.

Huawei Nova 12 Series Launch Date

Yu confirms that Huawei will debut the forthcoming smartphones in China on December 26. The event will kick off at 2.30 PM (UTC + 8) and will be live-streamed for the rest of the world through a dedicated micro-site for the launch. The microsite reveals that the pre-orders of the device will begin at 6 PM, December 26.

The teaser also indicates that Huawei will debut the smartphones in a Blue colour option. The image reveals that the forthcoming Nova 12 series smartphones will sport a triple rear camera setup along with an LED flash. Huawei has equipped the smartphones with an oval camera island similar to Honor 100 series. The teaser also divulges that the upcoming devices will run Harmony OS out of the box.

The vanilla Nova 12 and Nova 12 Pro smartphones are likely to start around RMB 2,000 (approx. Rs 23,500) and RMB 3,000 (approx. Rs 35,700). In contrast, the top-of-the-line Nova 12 Ultra smartphone is rumoured to carry a price tag of RMB 4,000 (approx. Rs 47,000).

The device with the model number ADA-AL00U passed the 3C certification with 100W wired charging support. The Nova 12 Pro and Ultra smartphones are tipped to equip the in-house Kirin 9000s chipset debut with the Huawei Mate 60 series smartphones. The chipset is fabricated using a 7nm process from China’s SMIC.

The chipset features one Cortex-A77 core at 3.13GHz, three Cortex-A77 cores at 2.54GHz, four Cortex-A55 cores at 2.05GHz, and a Mali-G78 GPU. Huawei will introduce the Ultra smartphone with support for satellite connectivity. The forthcoming Nova 12 Ultra is rumoured to sport a 50MP Omnivision OV50H sensor with a sensor size of 1 inch, variable aperture support, and OIS.

The upcoming Huawei Nova 12 series smartphones will sport plastic frames in common. Other common specifications of the Nova 12 series smartphones include a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, an X-axis linear motor, and a 60MP selfie camera.

The forthcoming Nova 12 Ultra will sport a curved AMOLED panel. The triple-camera setup of the device will comprise a 12MP ultrawide lens and 50MP telephoto lens apart from the 50MP primary lens.

In comparison, the vanilla Nova 12 smartphone is tipped to sport the in-house Kirin 830 chipset. The smartphone will backed by a 4800mAh battery with 66W wired charging support.
