Huawei announced its newest Y series smartphone, the Y9 (2019) in October this year. The company’s Y series is expected to be expanded again as it is working on releasing the Y7 Prime (2019) soon. Another upcoming Y series smartphone has now surfaced online, the Y6 (2019). Successor to the Y6 (2018), the Y6 (2019) has been certified by Russian certification authority EEC.

Huawei Y6 (2019) Certified by EEC

The Huawei Y6 (2019) EEC listing does not reveal much about the device, except that it will carry the model number MRD-LX1F. While the smartphone’s hardware specifications remain a total mystery at this point, we expect it to offer an updated design with a notched display and a few other hardware upgrades similar to the other 2019 Y series smartphones from Huawei.

Huawei Y6 (2018), which was announced in April this year, features a 5.7-inch display with 720 x 1440 HD+ resolution and an 18:9 aspect ratio. Its successor is expected to feature a larger display with a taller aspect ratio. Like other recent Huawei smartphones, there is certainly a good chance that the Y6 (2019) will come with a notched display to help maximize the screen-to-body ratio. Under the hood, Huawei Y6 (2018) runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 quad-core processor clubbed with 2GB of RAM. The Y6 (2019) will perhaps run on a newer and more powerful chipset.

In the camera department, Huawei Y6 (2018) comes equipped with a 13MP primary snapper at the rear and a 5MP selfie snapper on the front. Whether or not the 2019 model will offer any significant upgrade in terms of imaging hardware, remains to be seen. On the software front, Huawei Y6 (2018) is likely to ship with Android Oreo-based EMUI 8.0 out of the box. However, in case Huawei plans to launch the handset sometime in Q1 2019, we wouldn’t be surprised if it launches with Android 9.0 Pie-based EMUI 9.0 out of the box instead.
