Canon India has launched the imagePRESS V770, a new colour production press designed specifically for India's growing commercial printing market. The company says the printer has been developed under its "Made for India" approach, targeting production jobbers and print-for-pay providers handling high-mix, short-run print workloads in compact operational environments.
The imagePRESS V770 is positioned between entry-level production devices and high-end digital presses, with Canon focusing heavily on media flexibility, stable output quality, workflow integration, and operational efficiency.
imagePRESS V770 Supports Wide Range of Media and High-Speed Printing
Canon says the imagePRESS V770 is built to handle diverse applications including marketing collaterals, menus, labels, textured stock, and synthetic media. The system supports print speeds of up to 81 pages per minute on plain and thick media ranging from 52gsm to 220gsm, while coated media between 70gsm and 180gsm can be printed at up to 77ppm. The printer also supports media up to 350gsm on coated and uncoated surfaces.
A major focus of the new machine is reliable media handling in space-constrained print environments. Canon has introduced a newly engineered air-assisted stack bypass with support for up to 250 sheets of coated media, designed to improve continuous feeding reliability while reducing paper jams and operator intervention. According to Canon, this allows print providers to maintain productivity during short-run production jobs without compromising on media flexibility or turnaround times.
Canon Introduces Built-In PRISMAsync Workflow Platform
The imagePRESS V770 also introduces Canon's built-in PRISMAsync LITE workflow solution, which integrates production control, workflow management, colour control, scheduling, and device monitoring into a single interface. Canon says the integrated setup removes the need for external controllers and simplifies workflow management for commercial print operators.
The company has also added new colour profiles optimised for vivid reds and blues, smoother gradation handling through a new 200-line screen option, and improved scratch resistance for labels and synthetic media through a dedicated scratch-resistant mode.
Canon Targets India's Growing Short-Run Print Market
Canon says the imagePRESS V770 has been designed around changing customer requirements in India's print industry, where businesses increasingly demand shorter print runs, faster turnaround times, and consistent colour quality across multiple media types.
Toshiaki Nomura, President & CEO of Canon India, said the printer has been developed specifically around the needs of Indian print providers looking for flexibility, consistency, and operational efficiency without increasing production footprint.
Puneet Datta, Senior Director of Commercial & Industrial Printing at Canon India, added that the machine is intended to help print businesses expand into more applications while maintaining predictable production workflows and reliable uptime.
With the launch of the imagePRESS V770, Canon is strengthening its production printing portfolio in India at a time when commercial printers are increasingly shifting toward high-mix, low-volume jobs that require faster turnaround and broader media support. The integrated workflow management, coated media handling, and compact production-focused design position the V770 toward mid-sized print providers that need higher productivity without moving to significantly larger industrial print systems.
