iPhone 15 series specifications have leaked online. The upcoming iPhone models are expected to launch in September 2023. Apple is expected to launch four new iPhones later this year. There will be the standard iPhone 15 sitting below its Plus-sized model. Apple will also launch two high-end Pro models later this year. Most rumours have been suggesting massive upgrades in the 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max, including the inclusion of a new periscope lens, titanium chassis, etc. The vanilla models are said to get some incremental upgrades over the iPhone 14 and 14 Plus. Now, a new leak has claimed that the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus are likely to get a massive camera upgrade.

A MacRumors report, citing an analyst research note, claims that the upcoming non-Pro iPhone models will get a new camera sensor. Jeff Pu, an analyst at Hong Kong-based investment firm Haitong International Securities, in his research note, claimed that the vanilla and Plus models this year will feature a new 48MP camera sensor on the back. Apple introduced a 48MP camera for the first time ever with the iPhone 14 Pro series. The higher resolution sensor enabled new camera features, including support for 48MP ProRAW.

If the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus do get a new 48MP camera, it would be the first major camera resolution upgrade since the iPhone 6s for the baseline model. Apple upgraded the iPhone 6s’ camera with a 12MP sensor on the back. While the sensor resolution has remained the same all these years, Apple has upgraded the sensor size over time.

Pu stated that the non-Pro models will feature a new three-stacked sensor that can capture more light for improved image quality. However, the stacked sensor is likely facing yield issues, which could lead to delays in the mass production of the vanilla models.

The analyst further reiterated some of the specs, such as the inclusion of a USB Type-C port, a titanium frame for the Pro models, an upgraded A17 Bionic SoC and more RAM. Let’s take a look at the iPhone 15 series specifications and features known so far.

iPhone 15 Series Specifications and Features Leaked So Far

The iPhone 15 and 15 Pro will continue to sport a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display, whereas the 15 Plus and 15 Pro Max will feature a 6.7-inch panel. Apple’s 120Hz ProMotion tech will remain exclusive to the Pro models this year as well. All four iPhones will get Apple’s Dynamic Island feature.

There will be a triple-camera setup and a LiDar sensor on the back of the Pro models. There will be a 48MP main camera, a 12MP ultra-wide camera and a 12MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom in the 15 Pro. The 15 Pro Max is said to swap out the telephoto camera with a new periscope lens, which will offer up to 6x optical zoom.

The 15 and 15 Plus are said to feature a dual-camera setup on the back. There will be a 12MP secondary ultra-wide camera along with a 48MP new main camera.

The devices will feature an A17 Bionic chip, up to 8GB of RAM and support for 20W fast charging. There will be a new Mute button in the Pro models, replacing the iconic switch design. All four iPhones will boot iOS 17 out of the box.
