The iPhone 15 Pro series seems to be plagued with a multitude of issues since the day of its launch. It began with the overheating of the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max, and the list went on to include issues like battery draining, battery swelling, performance throttling, serious lags or freezing, startup freeze at the Apple logo, easily scratched, and so on. Now, a new issue is plaguing the iPhone 15 Pro series users. A small number of users have reported on Reddit that the standard iPhone 15 Pro is experiencing adhesive gate, where the back panel is peeling along the edges. Let’s take a look at what the iPhone 15 Pro adhesive gate is and what’s causing it.

iPhone 15 Pro Users Report Peeling Along the Edges on Back Panel

Reddit user mr_rakue has posted a series of pictures in the r/iphone subreddit. In the gallery above of images posted by the user, we can clearly see some abnormal peeling along the bottom left and top right corner of the black titanium variant of the iPhone 15 Pro. It appears that some black material is peeling off and taking off the back panel in the process.

The user mentions that it’s some sort of black adhesive-like material that’s peeling off and he is not sure whether this material was used in previous iPhones. He then goes on to mention that he is using the Rhinoshield Mod NX protective case but doesn’t seem to be causing the issue. The user noticed the issue while cleaning the case. The user then says that it feels like the entire back panel feels like a sticker that’s about to come off.

A small group of iPhone 15 Pro users then went to corroborate the issue saying, there’s a lot of similar black adhesive-like stuff sticking out along the edges. Among those commenting on the Reddit thread revealed that they experienced the same on their 2-day-old iPhone 15 Pro and upon taking it to Apple center, they were told that the adhesive used to stick the back panel down was not applied correctly and is peeling since it’s sticking out. Apple proceeded to replace the iPhone for the user.

Notably, Apple changed the way iPhone 15 Pro and Proo Max are manufactured to make it easier to replace the back panel. Redditors are predicting that the peeling issue is related to the new manufacturing process.
