iQoo has made major announcements related to its most recently launched smartphones, the iQoo 7 series of flagship grade devices, as well as the iQoo Z3 5G phone. According to a recent post by iQoo India on its official Twitter handle, the company has confirmed that all users of the iQoo 7 series as well as the iQoo Z3 will get two guaranteed Android version upgrades over what the phones were launched with. Furthermore, the smartphones will also get three years of guaranteed Android security updates.

Given that the iQoo 7, iQoo 7 Legend and the iQoo Z3 were all launched with Android 11 onboard in 2021, it will be interesting to see what iQoo defines as two years of Android updates. If updated until 2023, the iQoo smartphones may be in for being updated with Android 14 as well. However, typical definition of two years of Android updates suggest that the iQoo smartphones will receive Android 12, as well as 2022’s Android 13 – which will be the final Android version upgrade that these devices will receive. Security updates of the smartphones, however, should continue until at least 2024, post which iQoo will likely withdraw support for the above mentioned smartphones.

The iQoo 7 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 SoC, along with 8GB RAM and either 128GB or 256GB of internal storage. It has a 6.62-inch full HD+ AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate, and a drill-hole slot for the 16MP front camera. The rear features a 48MP main + 13MP ultra-wide + 2MP monochrome triple camera setup, and the entire setup is powered by a 4,400mAh battery with 66W fast charging. The ‘Legend’ variant, meanwhile, is powered by the Snapdragon 888 flagship SoC, and has up to 12GB RAM. The display and the front camera remains the same, while to the rear, the 2MP monochrome unit of the triple camera setup is replaced by a 13MP portrait unit. The battery on it is 4,000mAh.

The iQoo Z3 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 768G SoC, along with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage. It features a 6.58-inch full HD+ LCD display with 120Hz refresh rate, and a waterdrop notch houses a 16MP front camera. The rear features a 64MP main + 8MP ultra-wide + 2MP macro triple camera setup, and the phone is powered by a 4,400mAh battery with 55W fast charging.
