Design and Build Quality

The Galaxy Book4 Pro boasts a sleek, minimalist design reminiscent of Apple’s MacBook Air. It has a tapering wedge-shaped chassis, and at 1.23 kg, it is about 100 grams lighter than the Air. Yep, it’s all about one-upping Apple and they have nailed it.

The all-metal construction feels premium and sturdy, while the slim profile makes it easy to carry around. The keyboard is a pleasure to use, with snappy buttons and good key travel. There’s also no flex in the chassis even when applying high pressure – it just screams premium. However, the touchpad, though responsive, could be slightly larger for a more comfortable experience.

Ports Specification
Ports (Right side) 3.5mm combo jack, USB Type A 3.2, microSD card slot
Ports (Left side) HDMI 2.1, 2x Thunderbolt 4 (USB Type C) port
Connectivity Options Wi-Fi 6e (802.11ax), Bluetooth 5.3

To keep it lightweight and slim, the Galaxy Book4 Pro does skimp on a few ports, but that’s normal for ultrabooks.

Display

The Galaxy Book4 Pro’s display is a standout feature, and the “I’m better than you” theme continues here as well. The peak brightness figures are slightly higher than the MacBook Air, and it’s an AMOLED. So, it’s vibrant and reproduces true blacks. While its touch responsiveness could be improved, the cursor movement is smooth and precise. The high resolution ensures crisp and sharp visuals, making it ideal for content creation and media consumption.

Display Specifications
Type AMOLED
Size 14-inch or 16-inch
Aspect ratio 16:10
Resolution 2880 x 1800 pixels
Refresh rate 120Hz
Screen brightness 500 nits

The only thing here they could work on is the depth of the speakers. They just don’t displace enough air to exude a strong presence. The loudness isn’t too bad, though.

Performance

Under the hood, the Galaxy Book4 Pro is powered by the new Meteor Lake-based Intel Core Ultra 7 155H. The new Arc Graphics boast much better performance than the previous Iris Xe found in the previous gen chipset.

Hardware Specification
CPU Intel Core Ultra 7 155H, 4.8GHz, 16 cores, 22 threads
TDP (claimed) Up to 28W
GPU Intel Arc Graphics
NPU Intel AI Boost
RAM 32GB LPDDR5X
Storage 1TB SSD, PCIe 4.0 NVMe M.2

Given that it is one of the slimmest Windows ultrabooks, the Galaxy Book4 Pro was able to attain good scores in PCMark10 and Cinebench R23. It also yielded surprisingly good numbers in the Procyon video editing benchmark. However, I believe it could make do with better read and write speeds.

How’s it in real-world usage? Well, it is capable of handling the most demanding tasks with ease. It boots up quickly and resumes from sleep almost instantly. It can also be used for basic 4K video editing (just don’t try to fire up some heavy animations).

The fingerprint scanner is fast and reliable, providing convenient access to the device. However, if you want even more raw power, you may want to consider the 16-inch variant, because it offers higher TDP.

While the Galaxy Book4 Pro is not primarily designed for gaming, it can handle casual titles like Sims 4 without any issues. However, for more demanding games, you might want to consider a laptop with a dedicated graphics card.

Samsung is pushing some smart features that genuinely improve your experience with a Galaxy smartphone. Many of these close the gap to Apple’s ecosystem. Here’s a rundown:

Use Your Phone as a Connected Camera: You can use your Samsung Galaxy smartphone as a connected camera. Depending on the model you have, you can see a night-and-day difference. You can also switch between front and rear cameras to find your angle, which is useful when presenting information to a client.

Direct access to Copilot: We have seen this feature in several new Windows laptops. You can make quick chat prompts with Copilot’s personalised AI assistance.

Battery Life

One of the highlights of the Galaxy Book4 Pro is its impressive battery life. It can easily last a full day of moderate usage without needing to be plugged in. The fast charging feature ensures that you can quickly top up the battery when necessary. It is also the longest-lasting x86 laptop we have tested this year in the PCMark Battery Life benchmark, going strong for 11 hours and 9 minutes.

Verdict

The Samsung Galaxy Book4 Pro is a well-rounded ultrabook that offers a combination of sleek design, powerful performance, and long battery life. Its bright display and comfortable keyboard make it a joy to use. While it might not be the absolute best in every category, it’s a solid choice for users who are looking for a premium laptop that can handle both work and play. If you’re willing to spend the premium price, the Galaxy Book4 Pro is definitely worth considering.
