After staying away from the flagship smartphone segment for quite some time, Lenovo introduced the Z5 Pro GT at an event held in China last month. The Z5 Pro GT happens to be the world’s first smartphone to be powered by Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 855 7nm mobile processor. It is also the world’s first smartphone to pack a massive 12GB of RAM. While the smartphone was earlier expected to go on sale in China on January 24, the company has now announced that the first sale has been postponed to January 29.
Lenovo Z5 Pro GT First Sale in China on January 29
The Lenovo Z5 Pro GT will be available for pre-order in China starting at 10:00 AM on January 22. It will be available for purchase in the country from leading e-commerce platforms including Jingdong starting at 10:00 AM on January 29. The smartphone comes in four memory configurations: 6GB RAM + 128GB storage, 8GB RAM + 128GB storage, 8GB RAM + 256GB storage, and 12GB RAM + 512GB storage. While the base variant has been priced at CNY 2,698 (INR 28,200 approx.), the top-end variant will cost CNY 4,398 (INR 46,000 approx.).
The Lenovo Z5 Pro GT sports a slider design similar to the company’s mid-range Z5 Pro. However, unlike the mid-range handset, the flagship Z5 Pro GT boasts a carbon-fiber pattern under the glass on the back panel. It comes with a 6.39-inch AMOLED display with 1080 x 2340 pixels Full HD+ resolution and a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. Thanks to the slider design and extremely narrow bezels, the handset has an impressive 95.06% screen-to-body ratio. In the camera department, Z5 Pro GT impresses with a 16MP + 24MP dual-camera setup on the back and a 16MP + 8MP dual-camera setup on the front. Connectivity features include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac dual-band, Bluetooth 5.0 Low Energy, GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, NFC, USB Type-C, and Dual 4G VoLTE. Keeping the lights on is a 3350mAh non-removable battery with fast charging support. As for software, the Lenovo flagship will ship with Android 8.1 Oreo-based ZUI 10 out of the box. An upgrade to Android 9.0 Pie is expected to arrive a few weeks down the line.
