In July last year, LG announced the Q6 budget Android smartphone. While we expected the South Korean manufacturer to release a refreshed version of the smartphone with slightly more impressive hardware specifications this year, no such device has been released yet. However, it now appears LG is ready to launch a successor to the Q6 very soon. An unannounced LG smartphone bearing the model number LM-Q617QA has been certified by the Bluetooth SIG.

LG LM-Q617QA Certified by Bluetooth SIG

Going by the LM-Q617QA model number, there is a good chance that the device could be the Q6 successor. There is also a possibility of the certified smartphone being the Q7 successor. The current LG Q7 model bears the model number LM-Q610. LG had announced the Q7 in May this year. The Q7 comes with a 5.5-inch 1080 x 2160 Full HD+ resolution IPS LCD display and runs on a MediaTek MT6750S 28nm octa-core processor. LG also sells a “Plus” variant of the Q7, powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 14nm octa-core processor under the hood. The LG LM-Q617QA listing on the Bluetooth Launch Studio website does not list any key feature of the smartphone, so we will need to wait longer to find out more about its hardware specifications.

The LM-Q617QA is not the only upcoming Q-series smartphone that LG is expected to launch soon. The South Korean brand may soon launch the Q9 with a 6.1-inch Full HD+ resolution display and a powerful Snapdragon 660 AIE processor under the hood. In the memory department, LG Q9 will come in two configurations – 4GB RAM + 32GB storage and 4GB RAM + 64GB storage. For further expansion, the LG Q9 will include a microSD card slot. Some of the other rumored features of the LG Q9 include a dual-camera setup at the rear, Face Unlock support, and a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. Fueling the LG Q9 will be a 3550mAh capacity battery. On the software front, both the LG Q9 and the LM-Q617QA are expected to ship with the Android 8.1 Oreo operating system out of the box. We expect to find out more about the LM-Q617QA once it receives certification from a few other regulatory agencies.
