MediaTek Helio G91 Chipset: Features, Specifications

The biggest difference between the Helio G91 and Helio G88 processors lies around the primary camera support. MediaTek has offered support for up to 108MP primary cameras with the new Helio G91 chipset. It is a significant upgrade over 64MP camera support on the Helio G88. The rest of the specifications and features are identical.

The MediaTek Helio G91 is an octa-core chipset featuring two 2.0GHz Cortex A75 performance cores and six 1.8GHz Cortex A55 power-efficient cores. It is developed using TSMC’s 12nm fabrication process. There is an ARM Mali-G52 MC2 GPU for handling graphics-intensive tasks.

MediaTek HyperEngine Gaming technologies support is there to help with the gaming performance. It offers dynamic CPU, GPU, and memory management for a smoother gameplay experience. It is important to note that Helio G91 is a 4G-only processor and does not support a 5G network.

The processor can support a maximum display resolution of 2520 x 1080 pixels and up to 90Hz refresh rate. Memory support is up to 8GB LPDDR4x and eMMC 5.1 storage type. There is WiFi 5 and Bluetooth 5.0 support as well.

While Helio G91 is a product targeted at budget mid-range smartphones, MediaTek showcased multiple bleeding-edge products at MWC 2024. These announcements were related to ray-tracing gaming on smartphones, on-device AI features, real-time animation, Dimensity Auto Cockpit, and 5G-enabled CPE fixed wireless access points.
