Microsoft has been offering Copilot generative AI assistant for quite a long time and a paid subscription was set to arrive sooner or later. The day is here as Microsoft has officially announced Copilot Pro. This is a paid subscription that will let users take advantage of the most advanced and fast-performing AI features the company has to offer. It also includes priority access to the latest models that the team will be integrating with the assistant.

Microsoft Copilot Pro Features and Price

Microsoft Copilot is already a useful and powerful generative AI assistant for many users but some people need more. This is where Copilot Pro wants to help through its paid subscription features. It is available for everyone and Microsoft has priced Copilot Pro at USD 20 per month.

There are two major differences between Copilot and Copilot Pro in terms of capabilities. The first one is that Copilot Pro will offer priority access to the latest models available. As of now, it will provide priority access to GPT-4 Turbo during peak times for faster performance. The team will introduce a toggle soon that will let users switch between different models to optimize their user experience.

The second major feature is access to Copilot AI features in Microsoft Office apps. These include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and OneNote on PC, Mac, and iPad. The only condition is you will also need to be a Microsoft 365 Personal or Family plan subscriber.

Copilot Pro will further bring Image Creator from Designer with enhanced AI image creation capabilities. This brings support for landscape images, more detailed image quality, and 100 boosts per day for faster performance.

Microsoft also has Copilot GPT Builder under development. It is a tool that will help users build their own Copilot GPTs using simple prompts. Each GPT can be customized to work perfectly with a particular topic of interest. We will have more details about the builder and its functionality once it is released.

As per Microsoft,

Copilot Pro is a single AI experience that runs across your devices, understanding your context on the web, on your PC, across your apps, and soon on your phone to bring the right skills to you when you need them.

In other news, it was recently confirmed that Windows PCs and laptop makers will not be forced to use the dedicated Copilot key on keyboards. The OEMs will further have the freedom to choose the placement of the key if they wish to offer it. Microsoft announced the new Copilot key for Windows PC keyboards earlier this year as a new way to promote its generative AI assistant.
