Snapdragon 8 Gen 2: List of Smartphones Set to be Launched with the New Qualcomm SoC

Qualcomm revealed that the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 mobile platform will be adopted by global OEMs and brands including ASUS, iQOO, Motorola, OnePlus, OPPO, Redmi, SHARP, Sony, Vivo, Xiaomi, MEIZU, and ZTE.

Qualcomm has unveiled its new mobile flagship SoC, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. The new Qualcomm Snapdragon processor will be a part of several flagship smartphones launching at the end of 2022 and throughout 2023. The chip maker claimed that its new Snapdragon Mobile SoC will deliver up to 35 per cent higher performance and 40 per cent power efficiency. The US-based company confirmed that several smartphone brands will use its SoC in their flagship phones.

Soon after Qualcomm released the details, a few smartphone companies confirmed the launch of phones with the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. The list includes the likes of Motorola, Xiaomi, OPPO, Vivo, OnePlus, etc. Let’s take a look at the list of phones confirmed or rumoured to launch with the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC: Which Phones Will Get the Flagship Processor?

Qualcomm revealed that the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 mobile platform will be adopted by global OEMs and brands including ASUS, iQOO, Motorola, OnePlus, OPPO, Redmi, SHARP, Sony, Vivo, Xiaomi, MEIZU, and ZTE.

The following phones are confirmed to feature the new Snapdragon SoC

Motorola Moto X40

Motorola has confirmed that its upcoming flagship phone, the Moto X40, will feature the new Snapdragon 8 series SoC. The flagship smartphone is expected to launch in China later this year. Motorola is also likely to launch the phone in India and other markets as the Edge 40 Pro.

Some details about the X40 have leaked. The phone is likely to feature a triple-camera setup on the back. It will feature a 50MP main camera, a 50MP ultrawide camera and a 12MP telephoto camera. There will be a 60MP front camera. The phone is also said to sport a 6.7-inch curved OLED display with a 165Hz refresh rate. There will be 68W fast charging support for the rumoured 5000mAh battery. We can also expect the X40 to run Android 13 out of the box.

OnePlus 11 5G

The upcoming OnePlus 11 5G is officially confirmed to feature the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. The company did not reveal any other details but the rumour mill has worked hard enough to spill some beans.

The OnePlus 11 Pro, which was previously rumoured to launch in January 2023, could debut as the OnePlus 11. Design renders leaked in the past reveal that the OnePlus flagship will sport a triple-camera setup and an LED flash inside the circular camera module that blends into the frame.

OnePlus 11 Pro 5G

The phone is rumoured to feature a new 50MP Sony IMX890 main camera sensor along with a 48MP ultrawide camera and a 32MP telephoto camera. There will be a 6.7-inch curved AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate support. The phone is also said to pack a 5000mAh battery with 100W fast charging support out of the box.

Vivo X90 Pro+ 5G

The Vivo X90 Pro+ 5G could well be the first smartphone with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC under the hood. The device will launch at the November 22 event in China. A Geekbench listing revealed that the Vivo X90 Pro+ 5G draws power from a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. The listing also revealed that the phone will pack 12GB of RAM under the hood. There will be up to 512GB of internal storage on offer.

Other leaked details include a quad-camera setup on the back with a 50MP Sony IMX989 1-inch sensor. The company confirmed that the phones will feature a new 50MP Sony IMX758 portrait sensor with Zeiss optics. There will be a 48MP ultrawide camera and a 64MP telephoto camera as well, according to the rumour mill. The device will sport a 6.78-inch QHD+ AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate support. Vivo will also include its new V2 custom ISP, which is claimed to enhance the camera performance in low light and portrait mode. The phone will pack a 4800mAh battery with support for 100W fast charging out of the box.

Xiaomi 13 Series

The Xiaomi 13 series, namely the Xiaomi 13 and 13 Pro are likely to come equipped with the new Snapdragon flagship SoC. Xiaomi, without revealing the name, confirmed that its upcoming flagship series will feature the new Qualcomm Snapdragon SoC.

The 13 Pro will feature premium specs, such as a 6.7-inch OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. It will come with a 50MP Sony IMX989 main camera, a 50MP ultrawide camera and a 50MP telephoto camera. The phone is also said to feature a 32MP front camera. It will pack a 5000mAh battery with 120W fast charging support along with 50W wireless charging.

The Xiaomi 13 5G, on the other hand, will be a compact flagship with a 6.2-inch OLED display with 120Hz refresh rate support. The phone is likely to pack a 4500mAh battery with 67W fast charging support. It is also likely to feature a 50MP triple-camera setup on the back.

Both devices are likely to launch in December 2022. The India launch of the Xiaomi 13 series could take place in Q1 of 2023.

OPPO Find X6 Pro

OPPO has also confirmed that its next Find X-series phone will feature the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. The rumour mill claims that the Find X6 Pro will get the new SoC from Qualcomm. It is likely to pack a 5000mAh battery with 100W fast charging, and 50W wireless charging support. The device is also said to sport a 6.7-inch E6 OLED display with 2K resolution and 120Hz refresh rate support. For selfies, there will be a 32MP front camera. The Find X6 Pro is said to feature a triple-camera setup on the back with a 50MP Sony IMX989 main camera, a 50MP ultrawide camera and a 50MP telephoto camera.

iQOO 11 Series

Both iQOO 11 series phones, namely the iQOO 11 and 11 Pro, are said to come with the latest flagship SoC from Qualcomm. The company, without revealing the names, has confirmed the launch of flagship phones with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC.

The iQOO 11 series is rumoured to launch in India in January 2023. The 11 Pro 5G will feature a 6.78-inch E6 AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate support and 2K resolution. It could feature a triple-camera setup on the back with a 50MP main camera, a 50MP ultrawide camera and a 14.6MP telephoto camera. For selfies, the phone will come with a 16MP front camera. iQOO is said to feature Vivo V2 ISP as well. The device is said to pack a 4700mAh battery with 200W fast charging support and 50W wireless charging.

The iQOO 11 is likely to feature a 6.78-inch Full HD+ display with a 144Hz refresh rate. It will feature a triple-camera setup with a 50MP Samsung GN5 main camera, a 13MP ultrawide camera and a 12MP telephoto camera. The device is likely to pack a 5000mAh battery with 120W fast charging support.

Samsung Galaxy S23 Series

Samsung is expected to announce the S23 series in January 2023. While the company has not confirmed the news, Qualcomm confirmed that all Galaxy S23 series launching globally will feature the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC.

The Galaxy S23 series will include three devices. The Galaxy S23 5G will sit at the bottom with a 6.1-inch 120Hz AMOLED display, a 50MP triple-camera setup, a 3900mAh battery with 25W fast charging, 15W wireless charging support and a 32MP front camera.

The Galaxy S23 Plus will sport a 6.6-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The phone will share the same camera specs found in the vanilla S23. It will pack a 4700mAh battery with 25W fast charging support and 15W wireless charging.

The Galaxy S23 Ultra will get a new 200MP Samsung HP3 sensor. It will feature a 12MP ultrawide camera and two 10MP telephoto camera sensors with up to 100x digital zoom. Qualcomm confirmed that the Samsung ISOCELL HP3, the first 200-megapixel image sensor has also been optimised for Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. Therefore, we can expect Samsung to launch the S23 Ultra with the 200MP HP3 sensor.

The Ultra device is said to feature a 32MP front camera inside the hole-punch cutout. On the front, there will be a 6.8-inch QHD+ AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate support. The phone will pack a 5000mAh battery with 25W fast charging support and 15W wireless charging support. It will run Android 13-based OneUI 5.0 out of the box.

ASUS Zenfone and ROG Phones

ASUS has confirmed that its next Zenfone series flagship will get the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. The Zenfone 10 is likely to be a compact flagship offering. However, details about the same are scarce at the moment.

The flagship ROG 7 series could also feature a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC under the hood. The company is likely to launch two different series, out of which the ROG Phone 7 and 7 Pro could feature the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. The ROG Phone 7D series could get MediaTek’s new Dimensity 9200 SoC. None of the details about the phones has been confirmed officially.

Nubia Red Magic 8 Pro

The Nubia Red Magic 8 Pro could be the next gaming phone from the company to launch in select markets globally with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. The company said that it will release the world’s first gaming smartphone based on Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, which will set a “new bar for gaming performance”.

Nubia Z50 Pro

The Nubia Z50 Pro is another flagship phone expected to launch in early 2023 with the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. It is likely to launch in February 2023. The specifications of the device are under wraps.

ZTE Axon 50 Series

ZTE has also confirmed that its upcoming flagship phones, most likely the Axon 50 series, will get the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. Unfortunately, details about the phone’s specifications are not known at the moment.

Realme GT 5 Series

Realme is likely to launch its flagship phones with the new Snapdragon SoC as well. The GT 5 Pro could feature the flagship Snapdragon chipset. Realme has not confirmed any details about the same but we can expect some more information to drop soon.
