Samsung is gearing up for the launch of its next flagship smartphone series. The company is expected to unveil the Galaxy S22 series at the Galaxy Unpacked event in February 2022. The company has not confirmed the official launch details of the upcoming Galaxy flagship. However, rumours suggest that the device will launch on February 8 in international markets. Like every year, Samsung is also expected to launch the Galaxy S-series flagship soon after the global launch. While some of the key details of the devices have leaked, a new leak suggests that Samsung could make a major change in the India variant of the Galaxy S22 series.

Samsung Galaxy S22 series performance unit

Samsung could launch the Galaxy S22 series in India with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC. The company has launched its recent flagships with an Exynos chip under the hood. The current Galaxy S-series flagship, the S21 series, features Samsung’s Exynos 2100 SoC. Tipster Tron claims that the India flagship variant of the upcoming Samsung smartphone series will include a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC under the hood.

The newly launched SoC is claimed to offer a significant boost in performance and efficiency. It has a 1+3+4 cluster and is based on a 4nm process. Samsung is also working with AMD for its upcoming Exynos 2200 SoC for enhanced graphics performance. The company, however, has not officially announced the details of its upcoming Exynos chip yet. Samsung is expected to host a virtual event for the Exynos 2200 SoC launch days before the Galaxy Unpacked event like it typically does every year.

There were reports which claimed that Samsung will rely on Qualcomm for most of its product offerings in 2022. The company reportedly plans to launch more than 60 devices next year, nearly half of which will feature a Snapdragon chip. One of the reasons expected is the ongoing chip shortage. Currently, there are no benchmark test scores of the Galaxy S22 series with the Snapdragon flagship chip available on the web. However, one of the devices, the Galaxy S22 Ultra, was spotted on Geekbench with the Exynos 2200. The device scored 691 and 3167 in Geekbench’s single-core and multi-core tests, which lags behind Apple’s A15 Bionic chip that scored 1732 and 4685. The Snapdragon variant, however, could come close to Apple’s iPhone SoC.
