[MSP Tech Insights] Top 10 mobile phones in India in January 2024: Redmi Note 13 Series Dominates the Popularity Charts

2024 has just started and we have already witnessed the launch of most anticipated smartphones like Samsung Galaxy S24 Series, OnePlus 12, OPPO Reno 11 Series, Redmi Note 13 Series, and more within the first month. The list is long, but you can check all the top smartphones that were launched in January. But as part of MSP Tech Insights, we take a look at the phones that managed to get users’ attention. So let’s take a look at the phones that got a perfect start of the year.

As always, we have collected these data from over 15 million shoppers who visited our platform last month to make their gadget purchase decisions. Do note that the rankings reflect the popularity of these phones, but not necessarily their sales.

Most Popular Mobile Phones in January 2024

1. Redmi Note 13 Pro Plus

Take ‘NOTE’ readers! Because the Redmi Note series is back into the business. The top two phones listed on the most popular mobile phones list are from the all-new Redmi Note 13 Series. The Note lineup has always been special for Xiaomi in India, and it seems that the plan for the Redmi Note 13 Series is working well. The most talked-about features of the Note 13 Pro Plus include a 120Hz curved AMOLED display, 200MP Samsung ISOCELL HP3 sensor, and its Fusion leather design.

2. Redmi Note 13 5G

As mentioned above, the second phone in the list is Redmi Note 13, the most affordable option currently available in the Note 13 Series. Its Prism Gold colour option makes it stand out from the crowd too. The device features a 120Hz AMOLED display and is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 6080 processor.

3. Motorola Edge 40 Neo

Released in September 2023, the Motorola Edge 40 Neo is still on the list of top 3 most popular smartphones. The brand recently launched its Peach Fuzz colour option to keep the hype train going. Priced at Rs 22,999, it is the only device to ship with the MediaTek Dimensity 7030 SoC in India. It also sports a 144Hz curved pOLED screen, IP68 dust and water resistance rating, a 50MP main camera, a 32MP selfie snapper, and fast charging, among others.

4. Redmi Note 13 Pro

Last but not least, the Pro variant from the Note 13 Series joins its other two siblings in the popularity charts. The Redmi Note 13 Pro starts at Rs 25,999 and offers a flat 120Hz AMOLED display, the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 SoC, a 200MP Samsung ISOCELL HP3 sensor.

5. OnePlus 12

Within a few days after its launch, the OnePlus 12 is the only flagship phone to be able to find a place on our most popular smartphones list. It comes with the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC, an improved 64MP periscope lens with 3x optical zoom, wireless charging support, dual vapour chamber cooling system, and a curved AMOLED display, for Rs 64,999.

6. OnePlus Nord CE 3 Lite

Almost a year has passed and the OnePlus Nord CE 3 Lite is still not going anywhere from our MSP Tech Insights list. It is amazing to see how OnePlus dominated the budget smartphone market in India with its Nord CE 3 Lite. Its successor is expected to launch this year and we speculate it will also dominate the budget smartphone market in India.

7. Moto g54 5G

Moto g54 5G was launched in September 2023, however it has started to get noticed recently. One of the possible reasons for this could be its recent price cut. The phone’s price got slashed by Rs 3,000, which made it affordable for low-budget buyers. At Rs 13,999, you get a 120Hz IPS LCD display, the Dimensity 7020 chipset, a beefy 6,000mAh battery, and more.

8. OPPO Reno8 T

Fun Fact, the OPPO Reno8 T was launched in February 2023, and yet it manages to be on the list of most popular smartphones in India. While, its popularity has dropped from the 3rd spot to the 8th position, it shows how it has continued to hold users’ attention. It was priced at Rs 29,999 during the time of launch. It features a 6.7-inch OLED display, the Snapdragon 695 processor, 67W fast charging, and 108MP triple rear camera setup, among others.

9. Realme 11 Pro

Although its successor has launched, the Realme 11 Pro continues to be a popular choice among youth, all thanks to its premium design and dual-tone leather finish. It offers a 120Hz curved AMOLED display, a 100MP dual-camera setup, and the MediaTek Dimensity 7050 SoC at a starting price of Rs 23,999.

10. Redmi 12 5G

Even though there are several budget 5G options available now, the Redmi 12 5G remains among the most popular 5G devices in India. It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chipset and is available at Rs 11,499 in India.
