  • Nothing Phone 2a could be a watered-down version of the Phone (2).
  • Since its inception, the company has launched only two phones so far.
  • The Indian version of the Nothing Phone (2a) has been spotted on the BIS website.

The Nothing Phone (2) was launched in India earlier this year in India, the US, and some European markets. Although the phone was launched as the successor to the Nothing Phone (1), the price of the Phone (2) was on the higher side compared to the Phone (1), which was priced very aggressively. Earlier this week, the company also dropped the price of the Phone (2) by Rs 5,000 in India permanently.

Now, it seems like the company is working on a new affordable phone in the Phone (2) series. A new Nothing Phone has been spotted on the BIS certification website with A142 model number. This could be the upcoming Nothing Phone (2a), which could be an affordable phone from Nothing. Let’s take a look at the details.

Nothing Phone (2a) Listed on BIS Website

The Nothing Phone (2a) has been listed on the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) certification website today. The phone has been listed with “A142” as the model number. While the BIS site does not reveal the moniker of the device, the IMEI Database reveals the same. The Indian model will come with an AIN142 model number and the IMEI database confirms (via GSMChina) the phone to be the Nothing Phone (2a).

Apart from this, the site does not reveal many details of the upcoming device, yet. However, another report has revealed some key specs and features of the handset a few days back.

Nothing Phone (2a): Expected Specifications

According to a report by Android Authority, the Phone (2a) will come with a 6.7-inch AMOLED screen with a 120Hz screen refresh rate and a centered punch hole cutout for the selfie snapper. The phone is reported to come with a 50MP dual camera setup, a 16MP selfie camera, and a 4920mAh battery. In terms of software, the smartphone is said to run on Nothing OS 2.5 with Android 14 out of the box.

It looks like the phone (2a) will get a bigger battery while the display and camera department seems to be similar to the Phone (2). However, the major change is expected to come for the chipset. The Phone (2) is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. So, it will be interesting to see which SoC will power the upcoming Phone (2a).
