OnePlus 12, the company’s latest flagship smartphone, was made official in China earlier this month. It ships with features like Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC, a 50MP Sony LYT-808 primary camera at the back, a 5,400mAh battery, and more.

OnePlus 12 is set to be launched globally, including for the Indian market in early 2024. Ahead of the global debut, a teardown video of the OnePlus 12 has been shared on YouTube. WekiHome posted a video of around 13 minutes in which the smartphone is being taken apart. The teardown reveals the several components packed inside the OnePlus 12, such as the camera sensors, NFC antenna, wireless charging pad, etc.

OnePlus 12 Teardown Video Reveals Its Components

The teardown starts by removing the dual SIM tray, which is made of plastic and metal. It also has a rubber coating for dust and waterproofing. Next, the glass back cover is removed with the help of some heating to weaken the adhesive that holds it in place. Taking apart the back cover reveals the camera cutouts, which can be seen connected to the motherboard in three places.

In the next step, the plastic lining is removed to reveal the motherboard, which has a double-layer laminate design. The video further shows a large vapour chamber cooling made of copper, which is said to be placed above the battery. Notably, the vapour chamber, which helps with an efficient dissipation of heat on the OnePlus 12, is quite large. Apart from covering the entire battery, it also extends up to the core heating area of the motherboard.

Also, placed beneath the plastic lining are an NFC antenna unit, wireless charging pad, rear camera modules, LED flash unit, and the ambient light sensor. The video also goes on to explain the placement of the rear camera sensors and reveals that the internal structure of the 64MP telephoto lens, which is a part of the rear camera setup, has been optimised to offer an upgrade in performance.

OnePlus sports three cameras at the back where the primary lens is a 50MP Sony LYT-808 sensor, coupled with a secondary 64MP telephoto lens with support for 3x optical zoom, and a third 48MP ultra-wide-angle lens.

Overall, OnePlus 12 teardown video showcases that it is a solid smartphone, which is well-built. All interfaces are protected by rubber rings and exposed components are properly sealed for protection against water and dust.
