The forthcoming 12R 5G will be a rebranded OnePlus Ace 3 smartphone scheduled to debut on January 4 in China. OnePlus will also debut the OnePlus Buds 3 alongside the smartphone in China.
OnePlus 12R 5G: What We Know So Far
OnePlus will equip the upcoming smartphone with LTPO ProXDR display with 120Hz refresh rate. The screen can smartly switch refresh, which includes a lower 72Hz, 90Hz, and more. The company claims to have improved the screen and battery performance with the ProXDR display.
More importantly, the upcoming OnePlus 12R 5G will sport a large 5500mAh battery. This will be the first OnePlus smartphone to feature such a large battery on board. The upcoming device will also feature Battery Health Engine technology.
OnePlus will ship the smartphone with SUPERVOOC wired fast charging tech. OnePlus claims the phone will offer the most significant battery life compared to any other in the segment. The company previously confirmed that it would debut the smartphone in Cool Blue and Iron Gray colour options.
The smartphone has a design similar to the OnePlus 12 5G smartphone. The Iron Gray colourway features a matte finish on the rear. OnePlus is also expected to debut the device in a unique gold colour option later in the country. The upcoming smartphone will also sport a middle matte metal frame.
OnePlus will continue to equip the smartphone with an alert slider on the left side of the smartphone. The teaser also confirms the presence of a circular camera island with triple rear cameras. The triple camera setup will comprise a primary, ultrawide, and tertiary macro sensor.
The teasers shared by OnePlus China confirm that the smartphone will sport a display with 1.5K resolution. The upcoming device will have a side bezel of 1.36mm and a bottom chin of 1.94mm. OnePlus will also bring support for Dolby Vision. The display will also sport an in-display fingerprint scanner.
OnePlus 12R will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. The chipset will pair with 8GB / 16GB of RAM and 128GB / 256GB storage. The smartphone will run Oxygen OS 14 based on Android 14 out of the box. The upcoming smartphone is rumored to be priced between Rs 40,000 and Rs 42,000.
