  • OnePlus 12R launched in January at a starting price of Rs 39,999.
  • OnePlus 12, which is the flagship counterpart, uses UFS 4.0 storage and thus offers a better performance.

OnePlus 12R buyers who opted for the higher storage option can now request a full refund. On Friday, the company admitted a mistake in listing the storage type. Instead of UFS 4.0, the 256GB variant comes with UFS 3.1, matching the base model.

In a recent post on the OnePlus Community forum, OnePlus President and COO Kinder Liu clarified that customers with the 256GB variant can contact customer service for a refund until March 16. Liu assured that the customer service teams are fully aware of the situation.

How to get a Refund?

To get a refund, buyers must contact OnePlus’ customer service and discuss the file system mix-up. The one-month refund offer will end on March 16, giving buyers some time to decide.

Why is it Important?

The flagship counterpart of the OnePlus 12R, the OnePlus 12, uses the UFS 4.0 storage. When we performed the benchmark testing using AnTuTu, the OnePlus 12 attained an impressive score of 186,023, significantly surpassing the OnePlus 12R’s 74,635.

This comparison indicates that UFS 3.1, supported by the new Trinity Engine, is a reliable storage option, outperforming earlier premium devices equipped with the same UFS 3.1 storage. However, it falls short compared to UFS 4.0, particularly in benchmark results.
