OnePlus 12R will debut as a successor to the 11R 5G, which was launched earlier this year in India. OnePlus is expected to launch its new premium R-series phone in the coming weeks in India and other markets. The company has not confirmed any details about the launch or the device’s specifications officially. However, MySmartPrice readers do not need to wait long as we have managed to source the OnePlus 12R 5G’s specifications and features. Not just that, tipster OnLeaks, has also exclusively shared the design renders of the upcoming 12R 5G.
Based on the leaked details, we can confirm that the 12R 5G will feature some top-of-the-line hardware found in current flagship phones. The launch timeline of the phone has also been tipped. Let’s take a look at the OnePlus 12R 5G design renders, specifications and other details ahead of the launch.
OnePlus 12R 5G: What You Need to Know
The OnePlus 12R 5G is an upcoming flagship-grade smartphone at a premium price. The phone’s specifications and design renders have leaked online. Based on the leaked design renders shared by OnLeaks with MySmartPrice, the 12R 5G will sport a slightly curved display on the front, similar to the 11R 5G. The 12R 5G’s display has a hole-punch cutout at the top centre for the front camera. The bezels around the display, including the chin, are also fairly thin.
OnePlus will follow the same strategy for the back design of the 12R 5G as it did for the 11R 5G. The triple-camera setup and an LED flash module sit inside a circular housing, which is resting on a module that merges into the frame.
On the right edge, the 12R 5G has the iconic alert slider, below which is the power button. The left edge has room for the volume rocker. We can also see the USB Type-C port, a microphone cutout and the speaker grille at the bottom edge.
OnLeaks also shared the specifications of the 12R 5G with MySmartPrice. Our source tells us that the device will feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC under the hood, which is currently Qualcomm’s top-tier flagship smartphone SoC before it unveils the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC in October. The tipster also revealed that OnePlus will launch the phone with up to 16GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.
The device will get some major camera upgrades. It will now feature a 32MP telephoto camera sensor on the back with support for 2x optical zoom. There will also be a 50MP primary camera and an 8MP ultra-wide camera. In comparison, the 11R 5G came with a 50MP main camera, an 8MP ultra-wide camera and a 2MP macro sensor. For selfies, the 12R 5G will feature a 16MP front camera.
On the front, there will be a 6.7-inch AMOLED display with support for a 120Hz refresh rate. The curved screen will also offer a 1.5K resolution support. Under the hood, the 12R 5G will pack a beefy 5500mAh battery, which is about 10 percent bigger than the 11R’s cell. It will also offer 100W fast charging support out of the box.
In terms of software, the 12R 5G will boot Oxygen OS 14, which will likely be based on Android 14. Lastly, OnLeaks tells us that the 12R 5G launch event will be hosted in China in January 2024. While we cannot confirm the India launch timeline of the phone, it might happen alongside or soon after the 12R 5G’s China debut.
