OnePlus Open vs Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 vs Tecno Phantom V Fold: Design

OnePlus Open goes for two different looks, where you get it with the faux leather finishing on the back panel that is fingerprint resistant, or the matte-frosted glass touch. Even though the Open weighs around 239 grams, its overall dimensions make it easy to carry. It is still lighter than Samsung’s foldable so that counts for something. OnePlus relies on the Flexion hinge which ensures the device can be engineered using fewer components on the hinge. Add to that, you have rounded corners which gives it a comfortable grip in the hand.

Samsung mentioned that the Galaxy Z Fold 5 is thinner than its predecessor but OnePlus Open takes that equation and proves what true innovation brings to the table. Samsung’s foldable has a new hinge design that offers a visually balanced and seamless foldable experience. Samsung focuses on making the Z Fold 5 look more premium and those efforts are evident with the overall form factor in play.

While the back panel is made of plastic to save up on costs and supposedly keep the planet green, it does not feel cheap by any means. The foldable phone is available in two hues, and both look gorgeous, with the white variant slightly getting an edge because of the copper-painted frame. It’s also easy to grip and does not register any fingerprint marks.

OnePlus has gone with finesse and comfort as its design mantra and its overall form factor makes it an easy pick for its design.

OnePlus Open vs Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 vs Tecno Phantom V Fold: Display

OnePlus has gone for the jugular when it comes to the display on its foldable. The cover display is a 6.31-inch LTPO 3.0 AMOLED panel that offers 2K resolution and supports 120Hz refresh rate as well as Dolby Vision. You also get the industry-best 2800 nits of peak brightness and Ceramic Guard shield protection. The main display is 7.82-inch with an LTPO 3.0 AMOLED panel as well that has similar screen technology and support to the cover display.

Samsung offers a 7.6-inch QXGA+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with 120Hz refresh rate. The cover screen gets a 6.2-inch Dynamic AMOLED 120Hz panel but with lower resolution and 402 ppi pixel density.

And finally, you have the Phantom V Fold, the most affordable of the three. It features a 6.42-inch LTPO AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate but with Full HD+ resolution. When you unfold the phone, you see a 7.65-inch LTPO AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate but here you have support for 2K resolution.

OnePlus has the better display specs on board, which makes it a clear winner.
