  • The South Indian Organized Retailers Association (ORA) has sent OnePlus a formal complaint regarding low-profit margins and unsettled claims.
  • Big offline stores such as Poorvika Mobiles and Sangeetha Mobiles may not promote OnePlus products from May 1.

Several offline stores in India, including Poorvika Mobiles and Sangeetha Mobiles, are gearing up to stop selling OnePlus smartphones and other products starting May 1, 2024. This decision follows a complaint by the South Indian Organized Retailers Association (ORA), citing various issues faced by offline stores dealing in OnePlus products. Here’s everything you need to know about.

What Happened

ORA sent a formal complaint to Ranjeet Singh, Sales Director of OnePlus Technology India, on April 10. They raised concerns such as delayed payments, low profit margins for offline stores selling OnePlus products, delayed warranty claim resolutions, and logistical challenges. These issues have led to customer dissatisfaction, slow sales, and excess inventory for the offline stores.

What We Know So Far

We reached out to the president of ORA, Mr Sridhar TS, who stated, “The organized retail chains will not promote OnePlus products until the issue is resolved.”

We have given the timeline of until April 30 to resolve all the pending issues.

He also clarified that there is no warranty claim issue and said, “We don’t have any warranty issue pending with OnePlus, but there’s no margin when it comes to OnePlus.”

It is also revealed that “the company has started the process to clear the money, but it isn’t happening at the pace it must.”

What Will Happen?

ORA has decided to halt the sale of OnePlus products in more than 4,500 stores across Gujarat, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu from May 1, 2024, if the issue is not resolved! This includes major chains like Poorvika Mobiles, Sangeetha Mobiles, Big C, and Pooja in Southern and Western states. However, individual retailers may continue to sell the OnePlus devices.

It remains to be seen what will happen and we will have to wait until the end of this month for a more conclusive idea.
