Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 Goes Official With 15% Faster CPU Performance And 50% Powerful GPU

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 SoC has been officially announced today by Qualcomm as the latest chipset in the Snapdragon 7 Gen series. The newly introduced Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chipset is a refresh over the Snapdragon 7 Gen 2 SoC. The Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 offers 15% CPU improvements and it integrates a 50% faster GPU. The chipset also offers 60% improved AI performance while still delivering incredible power efficiency. This new SoC is manufactured using TSMC’s 4nm process and it has a “1+3+4” CPU architecture.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 Specifications

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 includes one prime core clocked at 2.63GHz, three performance cores clocked at 2.4GHz, and a four-efficiency core clocked at 1.8GHz. The Hexagon NPU inside the chipset improves AI network performance and the AI Engine offers 60% better AI performance per watt as mentioned above. The Adreno GPU paired with the chipset supports OpenGL ES 3.2, OpenCL 2.0 FP and Vulkan 1.3 APIs.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 Features

Additionally, the Qualcomm Spectra ISP equipped with SoC can capture 200MP photos, and record 4K videos. As for the display, the new chip supports a WFHD+ resolution display at 168Hz and a WQHD+ resolution display at 120Hz. The SoC is paired with a Snapdragon X63 5G Modem-RF System which helps the device achieve 5Gbps download speed over mmWave and sub-6 GHz bands.

Also, with the Qualcomm FastConnect 6700 Mobile connectivity system, the Soc supports Wi-Fi 6/6E and Bluetooth 5.3 wireless technology. The chipset also has satellite system supports such as QZSS, Galileo, Beidou, GLONASS, NavIC, and GPS. The first devices with Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 will be debuting in the market this month. As confirmed by Qualcomm, OEMs such as Honor and Vivo will be initially adopting this new chipset.

Honor is set to launch the Honor 100 series in China on November 23. The lineup is supposed to include two smartphones such as the Honor 100 and the Honor 100 Pro. There are rumours that the vanilla Honor 100 will be adopting the newly launched Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chipset, while the Pro model is expected to feature Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. These devices are expected to feature a 1.5K resolution display and a 50MP primary camera with an OIS support as revealed by tipster Digital Chat Station earlier today.
