Qualcomm has finally unveiled the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset. While it’s not the exact successor of the current flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, it falls under the same premium umbrella and packs some personalised capabilities. It comes with the need-of-the-hour on-device Generative AI capabilities. So, without further ado, let’s dive deeper into Qualcomm’s latest flagship offering.

Snapdragon 8s Gen 3: Details

AI is the thing of 2024, and while every tech giant in the world is racing to take the peace of that pie, Qualcomm surely doesn’t want to get left behind. As a result, we have a flagship chipset with Multi-Model Gen AI support and 10 billion parameters for GenAI models. The chipset will support generative AI-powered assistants and Image generation capabilities on smartphones, which means you will be able to generate images directly from smartphones.

The Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 doesn’t just excel in the sea of AI and boasts a vastly improved 10-bit Triple Cognitive ISP (Image Signal Processor). Working with always-sensing cameras, this powerhouse is claimed to elevate your smartphone photography experience in numerous ways. It is said to enhance the face unlock capabilities, offer better mobile payments, and scan QR codes faster.

The chipset doesn’t stop there. It uses real-time semantic segmentation for photos and videos, a technology that intelligently analyses each frame, ensuring superior visual quality by differentiating objects and their surroundings. Moreover, there’s Snapdragon Low Light Vision technology, which acts as a game-changer for low-light photography and videography enthusiasts.

It is a 4nm chipset with a 1+4+3 structure, including a Cortex X4 core clocked at 3.0GHz. This is slightly lower than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3’s Cortex X4 core. There’s support for up to 24GB of LPDDR5x RAM, UFS 4.1 storage, Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 5 tech, and more.

If you are a Gaming enthusiast, this chipset might impress you as it comes with real-time hardware-accelerated ray tracing, much like the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. This will deliver stunning visuals with realistic reflections, soft shadows, and ambient occlusion, creating a truly immersive gaming experience.

Additionally, there’s support for Qualcomm Aqstic Speaker Max technology, which reduces distortion at maximum levels. It also comes with the integrated Snapdragon X70 5G Modem-RF System features a 5G AI processor, support for the latest 3GPP Release 17 5G standard, and Qualcomm’s 5G Ultra-Low Latency suite. There’s also support for the FastConnect 7800 system, Wi-Fi 7, and more.
