Xiaomi is looking to launch some new budget devices in its popular Redmi lineup in India soon and a new leak has revealed what those phones will be. The Chinese smartphone maker is likely going to launch the Redmi 9-series in India soon and it will consist of the Redmi 9A, Redmi 9C, and Redmi 9. These phones will be successors to the Redmi 8-series lineup which had a price hike yet again just yesterday. Interestingly there was never a Redmi 8C which will make the Redmi 9C the first phone with the ‘C’ branding by Redmi in India.

Redmi 9A, Redmi 9C, and Redmi 9: Expected specifications and price

As per tipster Sudhanshu, the Redmi 9A and the Redmi 9C will be running on the same chipset which is the MediaTek G25 SoC with the Mali-G31 GPU. The Redmi 9 will have a more powerful MediaTek G70 chipset with the Mali-G52 GPU. All the three phones will be having a 6.53-inch display but the Redmi 9 will have an FHD+ resolution panel while the 9A and 9C will have an HD+ display.

In terms of optics, the difference between the Redmi 9A and 9C is seen, with the former having a single 13MP lens on the back with a 5MP selfie shooter while the latter having a dual-camera setup on the back with 13MP + 2MP lenses. The Redmi 9 has a quad-camera setup with a 13MP + 8MP + 5MP + 2MP lenses and a 5MP selfie shooter.

As far battery is concerned all the phones have 5,000mAh cells while RAM and storage options on the Redmi 9A and 9C are 3GB + 32GB and 3GB + 64 GB respectively. For the Redmi 9, the configuration is 4GB + 64GB, but we can be sure there will be more variants for all three devices. All three devices will feature USB Type-C, a 3.5mm headphone jack an IR blaster, and a microSD slot that supports up to 512GB storage. For authentication purposes, all three phones will also feature capacitive fingerprint sensors.

For the time being it is not known when the Redmi 9-series will be announced. The Redmi 7-series launched last year happened during March but it would appear that the COVID-19 pandemic has played spoilsport with many smartphone launches in the first half of 2020. In any case, it is quite clear that the Redmi 9 and 9C will be budget-oriented devices and if history is any indicator, the devices should start at under the Rs 9,000 mark. The Redmi 9A should take over from the Redmi 8A which is currently priced starting at Rs 6,499. We shall update you when we have more information regarding the launch.
