Xiaomi launched Redmi A2 and Redmi A2+ smartphones after multiple leaks and certifications in the global markets in March 2023. Later, a fresh report revealed the renders and revealed the BIS listing of the A2 series smartphone. The company started teasing the smartphones by the beginning of May 2023 as Desh Ka Smartphone. Xiaomi launched the A2 series smartphones in India by the end of May 2023.
Earlier, Poco had launched the smartphone under the Poco C51 branding in India. Xiaomi has announced through a new post in X (formerly Twitter) that the brand will launch a new variant of the A2+ smartphone in India. The company aims to improve the sales of the budget smartphone through the new variant. Xiaomi has already gained many customers with the existing variants of Redmi A2 series smartphones.
Redmi A2+: Pricing, Availability, Features and Specifications
Xiaomi has launched the A2+ smartphone in a new 4GB + 128GB variant. The company has announced that the new variant will cost Rs 8,499 in India. The device will be available through Amazon, Xiaomi eStore and retail stores. The company teases that the new 128GB variant will improve the smartphone’s performance and satisfy its users’ storage needs. The smartphone is available in a faux leather finish on the rear panel.
For reference, Xiaomi launched the A2+ smartphone in a single variant in India. The company launched the device at Rs 8,499 for the 4GB + 64GB variant. Xiaomi has reduced the pricing of the 64GB variant to Rs 7,999 in India. Xiaomi also offers a Rs 150 discount through a coupon on the Xiaomi website. The Chinese OEM also provides an extended warranty of 1 year along with the smartphone for purchases made through its website.
The smartphone is available in Aqua Blue, Classic Black and Sea Green colour options. Xiaomi equips the smartphone with a 6.52-inch IPS LCD display with an HD+ resolution. The company equips the smartphone with a waterdrop notch, a refresh rate of 60Hz and a screen-to-body ratio of 88.89%. Redmi A2+ features thin bezels on the display and a touch sampling rate of 120Hz. Xiaomi claims that the device has a scratch-resistant display.
Under the hood, Xiaomi equips the smartphone with a MediaTek Helio G36 SoC, built on a 12nm process. The octa-core chipset has four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 2.2GHz, four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.8GHz and PowerVR GE8320. The company adds that the device supports virtual RAM expansion of up to 3GB. Xiaomi claims that the device can multi-task without any difficulties. The smartphone features a dual rear camera setup with an 8MP primary and QVGA lens.
