Samsung is betting big on Generative AI (GenAI) and planning to expand its Galaxy AI to more devices. TM Roh, Samsung MX CEO and President, via a recent blog post, has talked about how the company plans to move ahead in the artificial intelligence (AI) arena and will expand such features beyond smartphones.

In the near future, select Galaxy wearables will use AI to enhance digital health and unlock a whole new era of expanded, intelligent health experiences,” Roh writes. We’ve already seen Samsung introduce AI features on the Galaxy S24 and the Galaxy Buds 2 series. Now going by the post, it looks like Galaxy Watches will also get some of these AI features in the future.

Galaxy AI Won’t Be Limited to Smartphones

AI on the Galaxy smartwatches will be designed to enhance digital health features. According to Samsung’s blog post, it plans to

“unlock a whole new era of expanded, intelligent health experiences. “

Samsung has not mentioned when these AI features will be added or which Galaxy Watch will get Galaxy AI first, but we expect this to start with this year’s iteration.

The upcoming Galaxy Watch 7 series is expected to launch in the second half of this year along with the Galaxy Fold/Flip 6 and the Galaxy Ring. AI features could eventually be introduced to existing smartwatches, including the current Galaxy Watch 6 series.

What Can We Expect From Galaxy AI on Smartwatches

We are yet to see what these features will be like, but the Circle to Search could certainly make it to the Galaxy Watch. The feature will also greatly help in improving the overall functionality. We can expect some AI-based data analysis, suggestions on the Watch as well.

We will have to see if the Galaxy Watch comes with built-in Gemini, which Google is bringing to the forefront these days given it has replaced Google Assistant. Galaxy Watches also run WearOS.

Samsung started its journey into the AI realm with the Galaxy S24, which is its first AI smartphone. There are plenty of AI features to try out, the prominent ones being the Circle to Search, Live Translate, and much more. We have talked about the Galaxy AI features in our Galaxy S24 Ultra review too, so, do check it out. Samsung recently added Live Translate to the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro, the Galaxy Buds 2, and the Galaxy Buds 2 FE.

The post also adds that Samsung will continue to “Galaxy AI experiences across categories through collaborations with more industry-leading AI partners.” While Samsung has not named any partners in this post, keep in mind that many of the GenAI features on the S24 series are being powered by Google’s Gemini Nano model. In fact, Samsung and Google are already collaborating extensively on the AI features on the S24.

It remains to be seen how and when Samsung adds GenAI features to the future Galaxy Watches and other devices in its ecosystem.
