Samsung Galaxy S23 series is likely to debut in February 2023. The company is likely to launch three premium Galaxy smartphones, namely the Galaxy S23, S23 Plus and S23 Ultra. We are still a few months away from the rumoured launch timeline. Meanwhile, the rumour mill has started revealing the key details of the S23 series. According to the latest leak, the Samsung Galaxy S23 series might borrow an iPhone 14 feature. The South Korean tech giant is working on bringing satellite connectivity as a feature for the upcoming Galaxy S23 series.

Samsung is reportedly working with Iridium Communications for the feature. The latter provides voice calling and data communication services through 66 low-orbit satellites. Samsung is working with Iridium Communications for the past two years, according to ET News.

The report further claims that Samsung is working on using the feature to provide text messaging and low-resolution image-sharing support for the Galaxy S23 through satellite communications. That being said, antennas used for voice and high-speed data communication are large in size and it is difficult to make a smaller one that is as effective in phones.

Samsung is not the first brand to be working on the satellite connectivity feature. Apple recently made the feature available in its iPhone 14 lineup. However, the service is available only in the US and Canada. Huawei is said to be using Beidou’s satellites too for the feature to send and receive limited text messages.

It would be interesting to see if Samsung manages to innovate the tech and introduce it in the S23 series. Another thing to look at would be the company’s capabilities to make the feature available to a broader set of users and not just a few countries.

While we wait for some more details on that front, here’s a look at everything else that has leaked about the Galaxy S23 series.
